  1. We are in the process of buying a property. Can anyone recommend a good house insurance company...is there a website like the UK money supermarket or compare the market?
  2. We are moving to Perth at the end of August & are looking for a short term, furnished let, probably 2 or 3 months, in the Duncraig High School catchment. So Hillarys, Duncraig, Sorrento or Padburys. We are a family of 4. Any recommendations please?
  3. Thank you Ktee. I've looked at Dogmovers & can only see that they do land transit on the east coast. Trigg weighs 27kg so maybe one of us flying over is an option although to be honest as we will have just moved across the world I'm inclined to just suck up paying the £780!!! I have asked a company called Ozpet for a quote too.
  4. How did people get their pets from Melbourne to Perth? did you use PetAir for this too?
  5. It is pricey to say the least. we have a Lab size Labradoodle...£3660 plus $1800 for 10 days in quarantine & now I'm being quoted another £780 to get him from Melbourne to Perth...good job we love him!! its more than our 20ft container!!!! The process takes at least 6 months. Your dog will have to have a rabies vaccination then 4 weeks later a blood test, if they pass that blood test its another 180 days before they can enter Australia!!
  6. Hi, how did you get Buddy from Melbourne? did you use PetAir for that too?

  8. Hi, how did you get Buddy from Melbourne? did you use PetAir for that too?
  9. Hi Dan, apologies for the delay, I haven't been on for a while. We are looking at Duncraig SHS, St Marks & did look at Carine SHS (not going there now) all 3 schools have said they will apply for credit for my daughters GCSE results. When are you looking at moving? We have previously lived in Perth so have experience of the schools we are considering. Its not the ideal time for our eldest daughter but a job opportunity for my husband has arisen that we don't feel we can pass up!!
  10. Thats good to hear, I'm just deciding between PSS & John Mason
  11. Thanks everyone for your words of assurance!
  12. We are in the process of using PetAir. All good so far. I went for the Gold package as we will have left the country before our dog can because the 180 day rule (after rabies blood test) so need him collecting from where he will be staying & checking in. Also the gold includes all the paperwork that needs doing. When I visited our vet for the blood test last week he was happy we are using them. I still feel very nervous about our dog being in a crate for so long...poor thing!!
  13. Great thank you guys....feeling quite nervous about our poor dog being in a crate for that long!!
  14. Has anyone used Petair to move their dog from UK to Perth? or can anyone recommend a company they have used?
  15. The 3 schools I'm looking at have all said the same about applying for credit from GCSE results & also the WA School Curriculum Standards Authority. I was just wondering if anyone had personal experience & how their children faired?
  16. Hi, has anyone moved to Perth after their child has sat GCSES? We are looking to move in August this year. My daughter will have sat her GCSEs. I have been told that the school we choose will apply for Year 11 credit based on her GCSE results. Has anyone had experience of this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I get the feeling it is all based on whether the customs staff/inspectors are in a good mood or not that particular day! Thanks for all of your advice. We have lived in Perth before, we moved out early 2008 & didn't have any issues with things needing to be fumigated but we didn't bring any "risky" items that time. Having lived in Perth the reason I'm trying to weigh up the cost of fumigation v cost of replacement is because I know items like bikes, hoovers, gazebos etc are pretty pricey over there...unless things have changed in the last 4 years?
  18. We are currently getting quotes for shipping a 20ft container full of our home! I am finding it hard to get anyone to tell me what fumigation costs may be...has anyone had any experience? Is it worth bringing bikes, camping equipment, Dyson etc & risk the possible fumigation cost being less than re buying these items in Perth if we don't bring them?
