  1. Hi all I'm just getting ready to head back to pack my container for shipping to Perth. Got a great quote from I Move International and before I go with it I just wanted to know if anyone had used them and had any feedback? TIA Kev
  2. Hi All Does anybody know if you can buy the Dulux Paint Pod Paint in Perth? Just come back to the UK to pack up and can't remember seeing it. I was going to put some in the container but wasn't sure if you could bring paint. Any suggestions? TIA
  3. Took the plunge and used Currency Fair, wow! Super service, really easy to use and saved me about $70 on a transfer of $3400 back to the UK on the MoneyCorp rate. Whole thing took just over 2 days to get the money from NAB to NatWest. Would definitely recommend and I will be using them in future for all my transfers.
  4. Hi All I am sending some money back to the UK and just wondered if anyone has used Currency Fair? Seems to be a better way to go than Moneycorp at the minute. TIA Kev

    Hire Cars

Hi Everyone I am due to arrive in Perth on 28th to start my new job. I had arranged to buy a new car to be collected when I get there but it is proving a little difficult to get it all finalised and I've had enough of trying to deal with the bloke at the garage on email....Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a decent hire car company who'll do me a decent rate for a month. If I rent for a month it will give me some time to sort out a car and not have to worry about it being ready for work on the 1st. I don't know, just when you think everything is sorted. Thanks Kev
  6. Evening All I was just after some advice on transferring my money about. I will initially send a little to my NAB account in the next few weeks to keep me going till I get paid. From then on, for a few months, I will have to send a transfer from my Oz account back to my UK account as the rest of the family are still there until the house sells. Any one know where I can get the best rate for a regular transfer? Has anybody used a company called Transferwise as they seem to be the cheapest I can find anywhere as they only charge 0.5% based on the actual exchange rate. Cheers Kev
  7. Hi all. I am looking around for rentals on Gumtree and thought it was odd I was getting no replies just found out that Gumtree block emails from outside Oz. I arrive in 4 weeks to start my new job and am trying to get in touch with people to arrange a houseshare. Anyone know of any way I would be able to sort this out whilst still outside the country, It's a right pain. Cheers for any help. Kev:confused:
  8. Hi All I was just wondering if you get a rental in 1 area and your kid goes to the high school there, then when you eventually buy a house and move in if it is in another catchment do you have to move your kid? Cheers Kev
  9. Hi Hope you don't mind me asking do you work? Were the tax office OK with you when you told them you were home alone and did you tell them your hubby was in Oz? Just so we know before we try to get it all sorted. Cheers Kev
  10. Just a quick question to see if anyone has gone out ahead of the rest of the family and how that goes in the UK with finances etc. Obviously things are going to be tight trying to keep the house here going till it sells and keeping myself going in Oz. I'm not one to try to get anything I'm not entitled to but as I will officially be a PR in Oz would my wife be able to get reduced Council Tax or some tax credits etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kev
  11. Cheers. It is an HVAC Project Manager role. Kev
  12. It was definitely thin fleece time mate. I never had to wear anything but my shorts to be fair. Rained a bit but it is winter! Job hunting is not too bad, just a case of getting the resume out and getting some face time in front of the employers. So long as you are enthusiastic and come across as eager to work seems like there are some good opportunities out there. What you looking at doing, if you don't mind me asking? Kev
  13. The Beach at Hillarys Harbour Not bad for a winters day!
  14. Well.. The 4 of us have just got back from a 2 week validation visit and whilst looking round to see what the jobs market was like I have managed to get a really good job offer and I am going back in 5 weeks to start, the rest of the family are going to follow later in the year. Got a great Project Managers job What a result!! Struggling a bit though to find some accommodation. I was wondering if any one knows of where I can find a house share or if any one knows of anyone with a room to rent for 4 months or so. I'll be working in Welshpool but will travel, if any one has any advise etc it would be appreciated. Trying to keep the costs down for now as I'll have to keep myself in Oz and keep the house going in the UK. Cheers Kev
