I agree it's not quite the hustle and bustle of other place in Aus I previously holidayed. But for people who do not have a vehicle to travel around straight away, it's pretty convenient what with the free buses around the city, work on your door step and relatively inexpensive public transport to surrounding suburbs. For us for now, it's the ideal place to start our migration adventure

Have joined the group on here as I would love to know about future meets. i have been here in the city for two weeks with my other half and after securing somewhere to live, I've realised how much i miss the girly company of shopping, coffees and chatting (as well as me and the boyf missing group company too). We are in East Perth, not sure if you and your partner are crickety, but to give you an idea of where in the city we are, we are about a 2 min walk from the WACA. Coming from quiet a country-fied part of the UK, the city living appealed to us as a change from the norm, but I've heard nice things about the scarborough area and its not that far from the CBD at all really - lovely beaches there apparently, if your beachy people we're looking to venture up there to check it out for ourselves at some point if fancy a beer/wine or two once your settled? yes we are renting, we started viewing two days after we landed and secured an apartment a week later after viewing about six properties - moved in two days after our application was deemed successful by the owner. Are you guys renting? With the uk being a little more fast paced than here, I was a little frustrated with the laid back approach as we had no option but to live in a hotel which was to cheap by any means! That and the lack of information the realtors we came across gave to newbies to their renting game... But just over a week, in hindsight, was not bad going. I don't want to drivvel on if you know the general rental process here, but if your like us and didn't have a clue, give us a shout and I'll drop you a few pointers based on our experience. X

Hi Dave & Lauren, Where about in Perth are you moving to? My oh and I have been here in the city for a week after one year of counting down the days to our big move and it has been amazing so far! We, luckily, missed the horrendous cold snowy snap that seems to have taken the UK down - hope its not too bad for you in Manchester?! I'm Lisa, 25 and my partner is James, 27; we are both outdoorsy kind of people, nothing too extreme mind! Hi Jenna, I remember the excitement of counting down the days too! Been here a week myself with my other half & we have hit the ground running trying to settle into Perth... I'm 25, he is 26 & we are looking for a place in & around the CBD, although we somewhat underestimated the prices here! I can only reiterate what Sarah has said about finding it a little daunting meeting new people, but there are plenty of us in the same boat and so far everyone seems friendly... with that in mind if any of you are looking to extend your social circles there seems to be various groups within his forum that arrange meets or feel free to pm me & perhaps we can meet over preferred tipples! Are there any football fans who are able to tell me where's best to go and watch games in the city centre? I'm a big football fan, more specifically Chelsea, and looking for somewhere to watch up and coming games over a pint or two... if there's any other footie fans that fancy a beer over a game just give me a shout! Hi Laura, Thanks for your reply. We have just got back from a day of hitting apartment viewings, fingers crossed the right one will pop up soon! We are in Pert's city centre at the mo and are heading out tonight, so can't make breakwater unfortunately - where about are you guys based? perhaps we could arrange a meet soon?

Hi I'm Lisa (25) & my partner is James (26) and like the majority, we're looking to find some like minded friends here in WA! We are both quite laid back people who enjoy going to the beach, bike riding, music, sports (any football & cricket fans here?!) & going out to eat/drink... We are from the UK & very new to Perth (landing only a few days ago) & are in the throes of finding a place in & around the CBD as well as looking to meet new people & finding out firsthand what the Perth lifestyle offers! If anyone has any advice for newbies, are in the same boat & want to meet up or just fancy going out for a glass or two just because (!) then drop us a line, we'd sure welcome a smiley face
