  1. Many thanks for all the advice. we have just signed a 12 month contract with VIVID. We got a gateway router for $79 + $10 delivery. The months costs are $79 with unlimited download and uploads. We do not get a phone line with this, but I think this is a good deal.
  2. Hi Nick, many thanks for the reply, a real help, I understand the no need for landline phone, will take your advice.
  3. hi We are just about to move into our new rental in Tapping. I have been trawling through the minefield o fBroadband packages and I cannot see a good value package. Is it possible to get unlimited downloads, telephone and TV package from one company? any advice greatly appreciated.
  4. Hi Perth Poms we are arriving on the 10th August so the countdown is truly on! Can anybody tell me if it is possible to take a rental out before you see it? I have contacted several rental agents after seeing properties on Realestate.com but nobody has returned my enquiries. I start work on the 12th so ideally I do not want to put the task of finding a rental on my OH and two young children. For me if the house looks nice, it is in the Joondalup area and near a good Primary school this is good enough for me. We are planning on staying in a hotel for the first week then wanting to move into a rental with limited belongings until our furniture arrives. Can anybody help please? On the same subject did anybody use Stayz for thier temporary accommodation? Any better/cheaper options that I may have missed? I really appreciate your help. Thanks.
  5. Hi Mummytummy, me to I am 46 on Thursday! How is it having a toyboy? sod it if it goes pear shaped you can always come home. My children are 7&9 and I believe this is the best thing for them. We should keep in touch where are you going to be based?
  6. Many thanks for everybody who has generously given their insight and advice into my uncertainty regarding the 457 visa. I appreciate all the opinions and thank verystormy for the thread. I have looked at the new rules governing the 457 which came into effect on Friday and it makes me feel even safer. We are going to proceed and take the risk, life is too short to procrastinate and you should always follow your dreams. I have friends who have had dreams broken and crushed and friends who have had their hearts filled with happiness when they followed theirs. At 46 I have also lost four friends this year to cancer and a heart attack so sod it we re coming!!!! thanks again. Xxxx
  7. Hi Greg i accept all views, I do not think anybody is being negative just helpful. I have also been offered a job in NZ with PR guaranteed after just three months, however my dream is Perth, I love it there and judging by the amount of Poms already there so do plenty of others. Can I ask how long you have been there?
  8. Hi DyleB just rechecked I am on the list, thank Goodness, is your last name Le Brocq?
  9. Thanks what is the CSOL LIST?
  10. Hey, I must be the oldest swinger in town! I am 46 on the 4th July OH is 44 daughter is 7 and son is 8. Age is just a number until you only have 4 yrs left to realise your dream. They way I see it is this: if we come (now 457 visa) get PR in two years, citizenship in 4, our children can choose to live in England, Oz or NZ so for us it is worth leaving even at this age!!! we arrive in August also looking at Joondalup, seems it could be a little England.
  11. Thanks Eddking. i have your attitude, sod it! My company came to me as I have an expertise in my area of work that they are looking for. They are willing to get my visa, it is written in my contract they will apply for PR after 2yrs. The worst that can happen is................ i follow the Mark Twain why of looking at life " it is better to regret what you did than regret what you didn't" something like that anyway. My children are young enough to cope with a little disruption, if it goes pear they will be back in Manchester before they start high school. Then as my son grows up he may remember a little freedom, playing out in the street, park wherever with his new Ozzy mates, this is my dream and they are coming on it with me. We are all very excited. When are you making the move?
  12. Sorry verystormy just retread your message 'if you do not qualify for PR now you will not in two years time' my migration agent says I will qualify in 2yrs if my company still sponsor me through the process. Can you confirm your thoughts please?
  13. Thanks verystormy: scary to read your reply. My company is a huge multinational organisation with 000's of employees. I feel safe that they will support me if I work to thier satisfaction. The risk then I guess is that my job may slip off the wanted list. We have wanted this for such a long time we are willing to take the risk.
  14. Thanks, my skill is on the wanted list but my qualifications are experience only. I appreciate I have to work for the sponsor for the length of term to apply for PR, this is not my biggest concern. My HR director in Oz cannot guarantee that I will be excreted for PR by the immigration services. Is anybody aware of this happening before? Thanks
  15. Hi DyLeB Many thanks for your reply and information. Are you an immigration consultant? If not you certainly know your stuff. Thanks for easing my concerns. Do you hear of many 457 migrants being refused PR?
