  1. Hi ash well I have bee in perth 2 months now and nursing up at fiona stanley. The nursing role is VERY different than the UK. You get paid double for doing half as much. Which is good but you define lose some autonomy (well I have anyway) as there's so many other people doing the job I was used to. There's such easy access to social workers/OT's/psychologist that your 'care coordination' role in nursing is lost. But on the plus side there's no where near as much paperwork and the nursing ratio's are so much better. We have 6 nurses for 8 patients!!! Xx
  2. Hi We have been in perth for 6 weeks now. Currently in secret harbour and hoping to meet new people similar to us. I'm 27,hubby is 30 and we have a 2 year old son. Is there anyone near this area who is looking to meet new people? Thanks nic
  3. Hi! We have been here a month now! Me, husband & 2 year old son. We are in secret harbour so not too far away x
  4. Hi everyone so we are almost one week in to our new adventure in perth. For anyone who has read any of my posts to say I was anxious/scared before coming would be an understatement but we have fallen in love with perth already. It is so so beautiful and clean and everyone has been so helpful and friendly. We have got our bank accounts sorted. Been to see 6 houses, hopefully buying a car today and have a lovely bank holiday wknd planned. We have been very lucky in that we have stayed with family (not that we ever met them before) who have helped us out so much. We are hoping to rent in the secret harbour area and I start work on Tuesday, our little boy starts nursery in 2 weeks and my hubby has a job interview on Tuesday. I honestly don't know if we will stay forever but if this past week is anything to go by I couldn't ask for anywhere better to raise our little boy xxx
  5. How's it going? We leave tomorrow!!! ahhrr!!!
  6. We are taking £7k ish (family of 3) but we are staying with family until we find a rental. I have a job which I start a week after arriving so will have money coming in. I anticipate money will be tight but I'll let you know how we get on as we fly out on Friday x
  7. Aww no this is not great! But stick with it... Something will come up! Best of luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you x
  8. Thank you I just keep saying 'see you later'. my dad says he might come over in August so that's a huge boost if he does, but I suppose we have made this decision for ourselves and we can't rely on people visiting to get us through! I am so excited but looking at my 3 suitcases thinking I can't believe this is all I have to my name! Haha... Cannot wait to get there now! xx
  9. So the goodbyes or 'see you laters' have started with two of the hardest today- by dad and my sister. There have been so many tears but with each good bye getting more excited to leave and experience our new adventure in perth! Hope it lives up to our expectations
  10. Yes it's an amazing job. Have done it in the UK too. And yes you have to be a mental health nurse xx
  11. Even if you have a job offer? I thought there was a limit of you don't have a job? X
  12. Hey everyone is there a limit on the amount of cash you can take through customs? We arnt taking that much, probably about £4000 x
  13. Ok thanks. I'm starting on the mother and baby mental health unit xx
