  1. Hi Kirstie Just wanted to wish you good luck for your telephone interview tomorrow. Let us all know how you get on. Will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you! Michelle x
  2. Hi, I am shipping my Westie dog at a cost of £2400 (not incl. blood tests or quarantine) - this is through Airpets @ Heathrow Airport. Very helpful - I have already booked them up - they sort out the flights and book quarantine, they also collect your pet from your home and transport it back to the where they are based @ Heathrow - excellent value!! Hope that helps.
  3. Hi Anouska, John Mason came in @ £3600. Pickfords, Anglo and Crown all came in around £4300. Hope that helps.
  4. Aaw, that is really sad! I am sure that the new owners are really lovely and will treat your dog well. It is very hard to give up pets when moving away. I have been thinking long and hard about that, but cannot give up my dog. You are very brave!! Good luck with your move. x
  5. Hi Ladies I am just reading all your lovely threads, and turning green with envy of you all living out there in Oz - I am still in the UK, waiting to come out in January! Hoping that time will go really quickly. I am coming out in October for 1 month to sort everything out (although I have my accomodation sorted!). Would love to meet up with people for coffee and chat. x
  6. I have had quotes from Anglo Pacific, Hoults Removals, Pickfords, John Mason and Crown Removals. All quoted between £3600 - £4300 for a 20ft container (sole use). I have decided to go with Crown Removals. The consultant was very good and gave lots of information about moving to Perth. Good luck!!
  7. Oh, you guys are making me sooooooooooooooo jealous!!!!! Congrats on getting your date for flying out - it's really happening now! Good luck with the big move, flossiepom, that's brill news!!!!
  8. Hi Bev, I have already opened my bank account - I chose Westpac, but then was told it was the smallest bank in Western Australia, so was advised to open an account with the Commonwealth Bank - I've got the application form but just not filled it out yet! Sorry, that's not much help, is it??? Good luck whoever you choose. Michelle x
  9. Thanks for that Angela, it's great to hear first hand about a place where I am choosing to settle. I am hoping to live in Settlers Hills as my daughter will hopefully be going to Settlers Primary School (wanted her to go to Tranby College but no such luck - long waiting list, apparently). I can't wait to get over there. Will be visiting in October/November for 4 weeks to check out my new town!!! How long will it take me to get to Perth City, driving?? I was hoping about 40 minutes. Will be commuting to UWA in Crawley. Thanks for your info on Baldivis. Can't wait to get there - only 65 sleeps to my holiday!!!!! Michelle xx
  10. Would love to know more about Baldivis - I am moving there in January and have just secured long-term accomodation (hopefully!!). Would love to meet up once I have moved over. Is Baldivis a nice place? It looks great from the photo's I've seen. Take care, Michelle x
  11. Great news about your bridging visa! Congratulations, you lucky people!!!! Hope you are enjoying your time in Oz. Hoping to be there in January myself on a student visa for 2 years. How did you go about applying for your bridging visa, did you apply in person or online?
  12. Halls Head is a lovely community. I stayed there in April when I visited on holiday with my daughter. I was planning on moving there but it is quite a drive from the city and that's where I need to be everyday, when I do eventually move!!! But, Halls Head is a great place to be. I have heard that Greenfields is not such a nice area, a bit rough in places (apparently!). I have only driven through Greenfields so cannot really speak from personal experience. Hope this helps!
  13. I just look forward to the day that I can jump in the car and drive along that Rockingham coastal road - oh well, not too long, only 159 sleeps to go!!!!!!!!! (hopefully flying out on 5th January, if my student visa is granted!!!)
  14. Hi Kelly Great to hear from you. I am soooooooooo jealous that you are moving to Perth in 4 weeks time!!! Wish that was me!!!!! I am visiting Mandurah in Oct/ Nov for 4 weeks, would love to meet up with you then. I will PM you when you are settled in Secret Harbour, so keep logging on to perthpoms.. don't forget us when you get to Oz!!!! Take care, Michelle x

That's great news Keith73, hope everything works out quickly now for you both. You'll be in Perth before you know it, sunning yourself on the beach!!!!
  17. Hi Ladies... I am sooooooooooooooo jealous that you are having coffee/cake mornings in Rockie!!!!! I am coming over to Baldivis in January, but first coming on holiday in October/November to Mandurah. Would love to meet with you all for your coffee mornings if you are still having them by the time November comes round. Please let me know, it would be great to meet up with some poms! Take care Michelle x
  18. Thanks for clarifying the car boot query Newjez, wasn't sure if the ozzies used the american way - trunk!!! I mean, what's all that about?? I think of elephants when people mention trunks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am just soooooooooooo excited to get to Australia now, wish it was January 2012!!!!
  19. It's great to get some information on the area where I am thinking about living in. I have already booked my holiday home accomodation in Baldivis for when I come move over in January - hope that Student visa is granted!!!!!
  20. Congrats for making it to Perth! You are soooooooooo lucky to be there, in that GREAT place!! Can't wait to get there myself... Good luck with your future in Perth.
  21. Hi Pinky I am hoping to make the big move over to Perth in January 2012. I am a single mum too, but will be moving to Baldivis as I think living in Perth is expensive and you can get a lot more for your money in nearby suburbs. Baldivis is not too far from the city and I believe they have good transport links if you don't have your own transport. Good luck with your visa application.
  22. Try looking at www.realestate.com.au - it's a great website for property searches, rentals and to buy. Good luck! hope you find something suitable. Perth properties are very expensive though.
