  1. G'day folks ...... We are looking for people to share their experiences of securing a rental - how long it takes after the opening date for them to come back to you with a yes or a no?? How long once you have secured a rental can you move in?? Hubby arrives 23rd May and starts work the following week, I plan to head out about 20th June (4wks later), is this a reasonable amount of time to try and secure somewhere?? Also, anyone living in and around Joondalup area? would love to hear what you think as we have seen some nice places and some nice apartments (which remind me of holiday aparts :-)) , has anyone lived in this kind of accommodation and what did they think? All thoughts, views and experiences very much appreciated. Thanks again to all for all your info, love this site!:smile2:
  2. Hiya!! Thats us got our visa approved , woke up yest to the email, ssooooo exciting, it's all go now!!! We have had a few companies in this week so far I prefer Crown seem professional over the others and have been the cheapest so far too! My hubby arrives 23rd May and starts his new job 28th, I'm planning to follow on in a few weeks and hopefully he'll have found a rental for us by then, dont wanna be stuck at the parents too long or I will be coming over grey!! LOl!! I was thinking,.... did you bring a stroller with you? As I'm taking my daughters assuming they give you it back between flights?? My husband doesn't think so but people will need them - grumpy sleepy kids between long haul flights gonna be pretty stressful if no buggy to put them into!! Also, would the companies want an enhanced disclosure from me or just a police clearance form? As the disclosure is disclosure scotland may mean nothing to them, my hubby needed the police clearance form for starting his new job so he has picked me up a form too. Hope your all having fun What likes the weather just now? Do you see loads of spiders?? was reading some of the threads on spiders, hilarious!
  3. Hi, we got our 457 visa yesterday!! :jiggy:Hubby has his flight booked 21st May and starts work 28th, I am hoping to follow on a few weeks later and hopefully he will have secured accommodation for us, it's all go now!! Had a few quotes this week for shipping, so far Crown is taking my fancy over the other 3, seem more professional and up til now also the cheapest! Cant wait now - It's actually happening, let the fun and the stress begin!! Good luck to you all gaining your visas, I walked around my work with a perm smile yest, great feeling!
  4. Thanks for the replies guys should hopefully have our quotes by the end of this week so shall see how big a diff there is from 1 company to another and from what we have seen on this site. again, cheers
  5. Thanks for your reply - makes our calculations more accurate Hope you're enjoying life in Oz, ssoooo looking forward to it!
  6. Hi, We've been trailing through threads and have only seen a few prices..... Would any1 be able to shine a more accurate price on their shipping costs (3 bed house) as we can only see different companies that people have used not what prices they have paid and if they packed themselves or not. We are currently getting quotes this week and we're just wanting to see what others have paid. Also, we can't decide whether to pack ourselves or leave it up to the company - concerned with customs! Can any1 share their experiences/give advice? We'd be very grateful
  7. Hi, Could someone please clarify what we would pay in a house rental?? We saw on a website a breakdown of payments including water usage, water rates, council rates, electricity, gas, building and contents insurance (from http://www.aussiemove.com/costofliving) My sis lives in Sydney and she has just informed us that they pay the rental price and their bills (gas and electric) only. If anyone can give us a wee breakdown of what they pay it would be much appreciated. Thanks :>)
  8. Yeah that would be super, keep you posted on our travels
  9. Exciting! I can't wait for the day the flights are booked! Hopefully visa wont be too long now we are estimating June to be out in Perth. Where about in Scotland are you flying from? Happy travels to you
  10. No we've not heard anything as yet, that's a week now. We never had much to do though to be honest as the company is sponsoring my husband so we just had to send them what they asked for then they lodged the application via a migration officer they have, I imagine the medical part poss police check will follow. They haven't contacted us requiring anymore documents as of yet so hopefully no hold-ups with the process and the visa is thro in the next week or 2. I will keep you posted Good luck with receiving yours and let me know too
  11. Thanks very much for your reply,..... we have also been looking North, My hubby is going to be working down town area and he plans to get the train in and out so we are looking at areas close to the train line, it would be nice to just have the costs of running 1 car. We are heading over from Aberdeen, cannot wait, I'm so excited! We have 3 diff companies coming this week to give shipping quotes, then the fun will begin, So you're loving it then? My daughter was 3 in Feb, did you find it easy to meet with people/going to parent & toddlers type groups etc? Have you met in with much Brits then, we'll all be alot happier, lol!! God the weather here is rank, so depressing! Can't wait to enjoy outdoor life, so great for the kids! I have recently done the HNC Social Care Course but unsure if its recognised over there? Do you know? I'm currently senior carer in a sheltered complex at the moment and enjoying it, I've experience in mental health and with young adults with learning disabilities too so I shouldn't stick for work. Like yourself I'm hoping to just do a few days per week as I'm not moving to the other end of the world to work weekends and evenings as I have done for years! Did you ship things over if so who did you use? Have read some threads and seen an idea from some people. This site is good so much info! If you can keep an eye out on any jobs on the notice board that would be super - much appreciated I have a police check from Nov but I will see about another 1 to take. Oh, does your child go to a child minder when you're working? Is there alot of child minders or private nurseries? Will keep you posted on the move and once over could always arrange to meet up Thanks again, Jen

No much wonder everyone is packing up and heading to Oz! I can't wait to pack up and get on that flight! Can I just say I'm addicted to this site, so much helpful info and everyone seems so friendly and I'm sure it would be easy to make new friends once over there with you all. 18. Hi, I am writing on behalf my hubby,.... Hopefully we can get a company to sponsor him to make this whole process alot quicker and to have one of us have work lined up would be much better to know on leaving the UK however don’t know where to start - help!! Can anyone in the I.T. field recommend an agency to contact that will RESPOND or do you know of any companies who are screaming out for people in I.T?? Any info would be very much appreciated folks, thanks
  19. Hi everyone, Me and my hubby have decided it's time to pack up go to a much better place to live and bring up our 2 year old daughter and we're considering Perth after recently going to a seminar about WA, my hubby works in I.T and thinks he'll manage to get work no problem, I work in the care sector having experience within a hospital, community care, working with adults with mental health problems & caring for adults and children with a learning disability, I also have my HNC Social Care Cert but unsure how recognised it is within Aus?? They do teach it within the College in Perth though so hopefully employers in the social care field do recognise it. Can anyone advise on this? Also if anyone is in the social care sector and can put me in the right direction to a good agency/company to contact it would be very much appreciated! This site is great, very helpful reading through what everyone is going through and the help and advice on offer from others is super! Thanks in advance to all
