j19jjr
Two weeks today my little Yorkie, Albie, gets picked up by the carriers for his immigration to Oz. I have managed until now to put his forthcoming ordeal to the back of my mind but I cant anymore now its getting so close. He is the sweetest most timid little dog that we have ever had & I am distraught at what he has to go through without us with him. He has never been in kennels or travelled anywhere without us and he truly is a lap dog. Anyone got same breed or similar dog that has done the journey & can put my mind at ease??? verystormy
Ours didn't do the international move, but did fly Sydney to Perth and then had spend 2 weeks in kennels while we found somewhere to live. He is a very timid little Chihuahua and very much a lap dog. We were worried about him. But, he was fine. They cope a lot better than we think they can. Shona7
We brought our 2 Chihuahua's from the UK. They flew to Sydney for their jail time then we flew them to Perth after 30 days! It's a good thing it's only 10 days now I believe from the UK. Our dogs were overwhelmed when we collected them. One of them had lost a bit of weight. It took them about a month (clingy and a few accidents when we went out) then they were back to their normal selves again. As Stormy says they do cope better than we think. Just as we do when we make the move! Best of luck x
j19jjr
Hubby and I have spoken about not leaving him for a while after we get him back but after what you've written Shona7, I'll clear the diary for at least a month. We used to have a motorhome and took him with us on our travels to Spain & Portugal, turns out he loves the beach & sea, so I am using the thought of beach days for the rest of his life, to console myself lol. verystormy
Wait till he sees his first dolphin! Mine was amazed lol. Do watch him in summer though. You will have to train him not to go running off into the bush or onto the dunes - snakes. Mine is pretty good now, except when he catches sight of a kangaroo. No stopping the little monkey then. On a totally separate point. Don't know if you would be interested, but once a year, they have a time trial for dogs of any size / breed. It is a national event and rolls across the country. We entered our little one for a bit of fun. He won! Has the certificate for fastest Chihuahua in Australia. It is a great day out for anyone that loves their dogs

Don't know if it would suit him because he's not the most sociable of dogs especially when he sees big groups of them at the Heath where we walk him, but you never know. verystormy
It is usually in August in Rockingham Ours is not very sociable either and worse since he was attacked last year. He doesn't like dogs or people. But, he has a very strong chase instinct and every time he saw the lure going, he went nuts and forgot about all the dogs and people.
