Guest Kg22
My OH has secured us a 4 yr sponsored 457. However we all feel the move is going to bd permanent. When can we apply/secure a permanent resident visa?
verystormy
If you qualify, then you can apply now. Which I would recommend. As the nature of a 457 visa is that it is temp and if he loses his job, then you have 28 days to find another or leave the country. There is no direct path from 457 to pr. You must still qualify. When can we apply/secure a permanent resident visa? If you are looking for it to be long term then best to speak to and get it clarified what's on offer now and what's the sponsors plans are. we are on a 457 visa, came last year, we've now lodged PR, but we did check before we came that they would support and pay for al visas needed first. We are also here on a 457 but want to look into becoming permanent without going through our employer. Did you apply for you pr direct for did you use an immigration lawyer? My husband has passed a skills assessment as we were originally trying to come on a skilled but fell through after we passed assessment would having this help do you think? donna
Guest Kg22
The employer appears to use the same migration specialist we used for 457 and will assist with PR but wont pay for all the costs just some. I suppose if it's what we want then we'll pay for what we have to.
