Ok, so I haven't been on here for a while, as I've been busy enjoying Perth, but just to give an update. We arrived in July via Singapore. As soon as we arrived, my husband and I both had job interviews and luckily both got jobs (he's and accountant and I a business analyst in IT). Anyway, we were not expecting both of us to get jobs immediately and still had to settle the kids somewhere and find a long term rental. So I declined my job offer as I wanted something local and part time. we were initially staying in a lovely short term rental in carramar...can really recommend it. Once our container arrived we had found a long term rental in tapping. Rents have really come down from a year back so that worked in our favour too. i had the kids starting daycare two days a week and soooo much to do with kids....beach...playgrounds everywhere etc. My son who is 4 started kindI in Feb and loves it. I now have a part time job...out of IT but enjoying it...at a mortgage brokers locally. so far we love Perth. Just to see the beautiful sunsets...the parks...beaches and there's always something going on. Houses here are lovely too, and people are so welcoming.. just thought id id post this, as I know prior to us moving we were very worried...times are hard...but there are possibilities...stay positive.

Just FYI...My daughter is at currambine kids care- it's a lovely centre...where will you be living? Waiting lists in general are quite long for daycares, so best to register the kids before you come.

Hello there we have been here nearly 8 months and loving it. We are living in Tapping so close to you all. I work 4 days a week but am free on Wednesdays to meet. I have a 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter.

Hi..we are looking at currambine kids in currambine and happy hands in carramar. Both are meant to be good daycares, but both have long waiting lists.

Hello. We are also looking around that area. I'm considering st stephens school in tapping. Also looking at currambine, with currambine primary being a feeder school to ocean reef high school I think. I think tapping primary has a kindi too.

Congrats on the job. We are over end of July. My kids are also 3.5 and 18 months...short term rental in carramar. Hopefully meet up.

Does anyone have any opinions on private schools in perth? What are the main benefits? Any opinions on st stephens school?

Hello we are looking to hire a car for the first few week for when we arrive. Does anyone have any recommendations of companies? Also how did people with kids travel from airport to rental accommodation, car seat wise? thanks

How's everyone's preps going? We have flights booked, and decluttering at the moment. Trying to get quotes from shipping companies, but just feel like there is too much to do. Also been trying to put kids on waiting lists for day cares as the waiting lists are huge! I'm starting to get really nervous now, wondering if it's the right thing to do.... Anyone moving from North London or surroundings?

Hello. Oh how exciting. Im starting to feel sooo nervous now. Yep...two kids...boy who is 3 and 15 month old girl. Im a bit worried about the job situation...both me and hubby going to leave good jobs here. Hope something comes up when we arrive in perth or soon after. Fingers crossed. Tigerbalm...hope hubby reached ok..and best wishes for his new job. Must be soooo hard for you....but on the plus side...at least he has a job already.

Finally booked flights...Singapore airlines arriving in perth on 24th July after three nights in Singapore. Anyone else due to arrive in July? Happy new year to all btw.

I think waneroo high school is the main feeder school to tapping, and ocean reef high school for currambine. I haven't really looked into either of these properly at all, but maybe I should. I just thought its a good 8 years till my kids will be going to high school, and things may change in that time?

Ok thank you. Good to know. I think we prefer the currambine area compared to tapping, but need to base it on the schools too.

Ok thanks. Been watching too much of that airport control program. I recall someone got stopped as they had canvas paintings as the frame had wood. I've done quite a few of my own paintings but again not sure whether to bring those?

Hello. I've been keeping an eye on seek.com.au for it related and accountancy related jobs (I'm an it business analyst and my husband is a financial controller). Both seem very limited at the moment. Does anyone have an views or experience in these areas? What is the market like at the moment. Also I hear perth is very much focused on who you know, more that what you know. Is this true? Hello im just looking through what to bring and what not to bring. I know customs are strict on wooden items, but are wooden toys ok or should I not bother bringing them. Stuff like jigsaw puzzles, train set, balance bike etc. ALso, I understand the car seat rules are different to here, so can I bring my car seats or should I leave them here? Thank you
