  1. This has been very useful, thank you. Our agent is just about to send off the application for first part of the VETASSESS/TRA application (cant remember which one its with). This has been such a long drawn out process. Taken 5 months, of collecting information and evidence ect. Lets hope its all going to be worth it!! Does anyone know what the chances are of being unsuccessful at this stage? Have any electricians recently made the move / in the process of doing so?? Be good to hear from you.
  2. That's so good to hear. We watched your episode only yesterday! Take care
  3. Stef, Where are you at, at the moment ? Submitted your visas?
  4. That's an amazing timeline!! skills assessment only took 3 months, brilliant!
  5. Hi Jen78 How hard is it keeping the secret! Exciting!! We've told a few very close friends and a few family members (the ones that can handle it!) Were just collecting work and education documents at the moment ready for VETASSESS. I cant believe how much information is needed, bank statements, payslips, P60's ect all from 7-10 years ago, who keeps all that!? And references from previous employers, most have moved on to other jobs or the company has ceased trading! My husbands had quiet a few jobs in the last 10 years Not long now for you until January! Scary isn't it! and very exciting. We're taking our dog too, shes a bishon fries. The only thing Im worried about is her in the crate in the aeroplane for all those hours, makes me sad. They don't let them out until they get to the final destination Im afraid that shes going to absolutely freak out and bark herself into some kind of frenzy. Then you think should she stay here? I cant imagine that either :( Its very promising to hear that that waiting for the visas is the least amount of time to wait, considering that VETASSESS can take up to 7 months to check everything out and say yes or no!
  6. My husband sat the IELTS test at the end of July. Results have been withheld and 'under investigation'! As I searched online as to what this meant (as the university haven't actually told us), apparently its very common and its something to do with the test/test centre?? Some have mentioned that they have retaken the test because others have mentioned that they've been waiting for 3 months now for their results!! What a joke, until I researched this we felt like 'criminals'! So id suggest, get practicing and book up as soon as you are ready!
  7. Hi all, we are a family with 2 teenage children finally plucked up the courage to venture into the unknown. We've just completed the FREE initial assessment on the Migration Bureau, so lets see what they say - would you recommend them or this kind of thing? My husband is an electrician and searching online there seems to be quiet a few positions around - does this seem right in the 'real world'? Our intentions at the moment is for my husband to apply for jobs from the UK once his Visa is in place, the travel out alone, hopefully get a job and to find a rental property. Myself and the children will then follow after. My son will be due to start college (or had started college already in the UK) what are the colleges like? Ive read that they cost $9000 pa. Would the apprentice scheme be open to someone from the UK? Any advice would be fantastic, thank you in advance x
