  1. Hi, I've recently arrived and you do need to register as 190 applicant, as it activates your 2 year commitment. The office is in one of the government offices in a mall in the CBD. You don't need to do it straightaway unless you have a confirmed full time address but the commitment won't start until you do. Regards Chris
  2. Thanks James. I've had a look on Gumtree and found a team up North.
  3. Hi, I moved to Australia on 1st Jan and I've been living down in Rockingham for the first month. I'm moving to Sorrento in a week or so and would like to start playing soccer again. Does anyone know of any teams that are either looking for players or people that play socially. Thanks Chris
  4. Hi, We've just arrived and secured a long term rental, fairly easily. I do not have a job. We just had to show our bank statement and pay a few months up front, as well as the bond. We had references from the UK and these were checked. Chris
  5. Hi, My wife has asked me to reply to this thread as she will be looking to meet new friends when we arrive in Perth on 1st January. We are initially staying in Rockingham and we are both 43. She is a very sociable person and can't wait to meet some new friends. Let me know if you'd like her contact details Chris
  6. Hi Nikki, I've just decided to go with them after the quote from my shippers. Very reasonably priced and easy to deal with. Chris
  7. I'm a major Billy Bragg fan and I'll be over I Perth on the 1st Jan, so I'll definitely be going to this Chris
  8. I'm flying out on New Years Eve. The start of a new life in the new year had a lovely ring to us.
  9. Medicals on16th September and then by the following Monday 5 out of the 7 were no further evidence required. Nothing for the next few weeks and over the last few days, it all happened
  10. I know how you're feeling I kept checking the medical status and mine and my daughters had the link still and everyone else's had been confirmed as nothing more required. I logged in first thing Monday morning and mine had changed. I logged back in at 10 am and 3 were then requiring some case officer intervention. By the afternoon all 7 were back to no further evidence required and then overnight last night I got the grant email. All very worrying but now elated.
  11. Hi, I thought I'd let you know I got my grant email today. I did not do the medicals until the Case Officer asked me to do them. It came as a great surprise as I was expecting my medical to be referred. So now on to the next stage, good luck to everyone still waiting. Chris
  12. Hi Nikki, Yes they sent an email introducing the case officer and asking for police checks and medical Chris
  13. Hi, We lodged on the 5th August and got a case officer on the 9th September. This was exactly 5 weeks which we were told by our agent. Chris
  14. Hi Kez, I'm looking for Project Management work, but I've only started putting any effort into looking as we are now further down the track. We're planning to be over before the new school year starts in February, so fingers crossed the medical don't get referred for too long. I'm not sure about living yet but we like the look of Secret Harbour but it's quite a way out. Chris
  15. Hi Kez, Welcome to the forum, I've seen you over on PIO forum. The skills assessment takes ages but the rest moves quite quickly in my experience Chris
  16. Well done Nikki. I hope my final stages go as quick as yours. We started at a similar time and on similar roles but my skills assessment took forever. It now all seems to be happening. So I'll see you out there later in the year. Chris
