Snake Repellents

Thanks Candy.

I've had a good read around about these things. Lots of anecdotal evidence about their effectiveness but there's no evidence based, objective trial that I can find and a lot of people who regularly handle snakes who warn of the false security they offer. There's also a Facebook page set up by a snake man who has made it his mission to discredit them.

It seems they might be effective under certain conditions but those conditions aren't really seen in WA and as a deterrent they're rather like a "Keep Out" warning sign.

If there's something the snake wants, they'll tolerate the deterrent to get at it.

Nothing works on the " dunnie adder " anyway, as they spend a lot of time in the water, only seeing daylight once in a while, you never see them, just when your settling down with the newspaper ... Wham... Too late, rarely fatal but can result in amputations.
