Hi everyone,

we have moved from Barrow in Furness where we lived for 12 years to 2 years in Preston UK and now in Perth from Jan 2014. Looking to meet like minded friends. We have got 5 year old and 2 year old children. We are in health care profession, living SOR, Willetton area. Cost of living is certainly a shock. certainly missing UK shopping and UK supermarkets. lol.

Hi Cumbria, sorry I missed your post, just wanted to say hello from a fellow northerner. Hope you are settling in well. We are in the hills and have been here for nearly 6 years. I worked in Preston many moons ago and have visited Cartmell on numerous occasions (wonder if Cartmell races still run?). Just wanted to say hi and good luck with your journey here in Perth. You can still get your fix online with shopping from most UK retailers , so don't worry, many offer free delivery over a certain amount ordered!

Enjoy!

Thank you Pea and Ali for your kind words. Started working this week. Keep you posted. Pea, yes Cartmel races still runs and always a big hit like mini Ascot. Miss the lush green country sides, grazing cows and sheeps strangely. Where abouts in the hills do you live? Is it lush over there?

Not so lush up here at the moment with the sun blazing down on everything, grass resembles straw now :( we are in Kalamunda and have been for over 5 years now, we like it up here, lovely community, nice little shopping area, getting more and more of a cappachino strip ie ..lots of coffee shops, good access for the city, my hubby commutes by car there. All in all it offers us everything we could hope for. We have even very happy here.

How's life where you are? Maybe you need to take a trip to Margaret River, it's lush and green there, plenty of cows in the fields too, nice in winter to get away there.

Best of luck with the job. :)
