Jazz Gal
Hi everyone just a quick sharing of our experience since arriving on 22 Jan! We had booked temp accommodation in Duncraig for two weeks (very reasonable, a granny flat self contained which accommodated me, OH and daughter, BBQ etc. Our host who gave us absolute privacy was lovely) Duncraig is such a lovely spot, so close to the sea, stones throw from Hillary's, great shopping centre we were spoilt for choice for things to do, North Beach, Mettams Pool etc all within a short drive. Managed to get into Perth for Skyworks on Australia Day which was amazing. We sourced a long term stay in Applecross, looked at a couple of places and approx 3-4 other couples turned up, quite funny because you see the same people and have a chat! Estate agent was great and rushed through our lease and we are now in situ! Our daughter has been in Applecross Primary since last Tuesday, they were very welcoming despite the influx of newbies, the uniform shop can't keep up! She has settled in well and has her first invite to a party next week (more friends than us at the min! We are managing with one phone, laptops until the container arrives and the amazing Vivid Wireless mobile device we bought which gives us Internet 10 gb for $40/month Not to forget our 3 x $6 deck chairs and $50 second hand fridge off gumtree. We have just returned our hire car so were without wheels over the weekend. We used buses over the weekend and couldn't have been easier. Made it to South Beach by bus in 45 mins courtesy of Transperth and the free CAT bus which is brilliant! All in all we are having a very positive experience, people that we have met and done business with have been great. We are glad that we have made the move and hope everyone in waiting makes it over soon! we are going to head to the moneycorp session on Wednesday so if anyone is going, look forward to seeing you there! Ps. Only downer is the current caterpillar infestation in back garden, blighters are everywhere!

portlaunay
Great to hear you're enjoying it. Watch out for those hairy critters, some of them can be quite nasty.

fifi69
Glad your enjoying and making the most of it. We aren't too far from you, it's a great area to live. Some lovely eateries and cafes nearby. The river is a lovely place to spend time, lots of free to use BBQs on hand too. Just a heads up, look out for the free family concert held at Point Walter at the beginning of March (I think). Its set right on the riverbank, a really nice way to spend the afternoon/evening. If your looking for good quality fresh, tasty fruit n veg head along to the farmers market in Palmyra on a Sunday morning. You can get lots of other goodies there too including eggs, honey, homemade cakes and pies. Def worth a visit. Also, although a bit more hit n miss the car boot sale on a Sunday morning at Melville Plazza, can unearth some good bargains. all the best
