pdsingh
Hi All! We're a married couple from India, who recieved Australian PR through WA state sponsorship (190 skills visa) some time back. We plan on arriving in Perth on 4th October, luckily we have a friend in Perth who can help us settle down. I've been researching about Perth quite a lot over the internet- though state government website has many details, I am still confused as to what order I should follow when applying for the documents. I know the first step is to register my arrival at Skilled Migration Western Australia office on Murray Street- which I believe I can also do over email. As next steps, I intend to apply for my photo card (I believe this has replaced the age card now), medicare card and driver's licence. My question is- what order should I follow and secondly- can I apply for the cards while staying at my friend's house. We'll be carrying our passports and visa, but I am not sure if they are sufficient to apply for all documents. I'll appreciate if anyone can share their experience/ advise. Thank you!! Cheers! verystormy
Hi and welcome to the forum. I am am not sure what you mean by a photo card? the things you need are tfn (tax file number) this can be applied for on line once you arrive open a bank account. This can be done now and then activate it when you arrive.
Chardy
You have 3 months to get your driving licence and will need to wait for some ID etc to be able to apply. As VS says TFN is the very first. So many don't bother with the Skilled Migration registration, I didn't (get round to it) and my 2 year commitment is almost over now !
