zoe009
Does anybody use whatsapp to contact family in the UK from Perth? I have googled this and can't find an answer as whether it will work and be free.

FOL
Sure, ozzies can. But it's just that they disn't adopt it like europeans did. Same with Asia, a different but similar app is popular there. whatsapp works fine to text back to the uk. If you have internet, it works. It works fine with prepaid. It barely uses data just to text. Images and videos use more data. You will be fine with an occasional image though.

Alphagirl
I occasionally use Whatsapp here in Perth and it works fine. I also use Messenger a lot and Facetime. Hi ! I have been using Whatsapp for quite a few years. I text my sons from the UK to Perth, sometimes a few times a day. We would send photos to each other too. The first year is totally FREE. The second year, I was charged 69p for the whole year. I more than happily paid it. i am now living in Perth & we are still using it. So text away to your heart's content! Vijay Kumar P
Whatsapp is hugely popular in India. I have been in touch with lot of mates who are in Australia thru Whatsapp.
Bibbs
WhatsApp, Viber, Skype .. and also iMessage/Facetime. From my mobile. And then I use my normal phone for UK calls, as it's free and doesn't rely on a good data connection.
