Points advice please :-)

Good day, my wife and myself have been looking at moving to Perth for sometime but have decided to bite the bullet and go for it if possible. We are looking for some advice if anyone can assist I very much appreciate it.

so my wife is a mental health nurse specialist in CBT (therapist) and has 13 years experience in her field.

I am a lead auditor in aviation holding a ISO9001:2015 qualification and basically worked myself up the ladder in my 14 years in the industry.

we currently have one child but are expecting another in September.

I just done the points calculator on the Australia government website and it comes in at 85 to 90 points. The difference in points comes as my wife is 31 but depending on the time line she might fall into the 33-40 age dropping the points by 5 if that is the case.

what are the chances of a visa acceptance based on the above information? The other question I have is if anyone has done this move what costs will we incur? We also have 2 dogs which we would take with us if the visa process is accepted.

final question but perhaps key to all of this what is the stance with COVID-19 are all visas delayed for the time being?

Appolgies for all the questions I have done done research but would love the opinions of people who have already made the leap and get an insight into the issues and some advice.

Best wishes

I will address your first and last points together. 90 points "might be enough" but it is hard to say as most visas are suspended and very few invites being given, but for those that are, it is for pandemic required occupations such as nurses. The other option is a 190 visa which is state sponsored and is not a competition like the 189. Again, these were effectively suspended but, there are allowances for nurses. Just one thing with points, if you have included points for English, then this needs to be backed up with an English exam such as ILETS. However, I would strongly recommend using a good registered migration agent.

For costs, it does vary on a case by case basis, but, a good guide is to allow about 30k in total.

A tip with dogs is to allow plenty of time as it can take as long to get them sorted as yourselves. I recommend using a pet shipper and Pet Air are one of the best.

Thank you for the information it’s very helpful. It’s has become apparent that the process needs looked at by someone far more in the know than me. I contacted a newlifedownunder.com.au but unfortunately they are too busy so have contacted goMatilda anyone know if they are any good.

Camila kindly informed me that she would support if my wife got a sponser so need to look into this option. I looked at the years ago and thought that It was near impossible to get sponsored?

thanks again for the information.

Thanks for the feedback, I have emailed GoMatilda but unfortunately they have too much work to take me on. I have made contact with another agent who come highly recommended and will access my options for £300 initially which will give us an idea if it’s an option and if so what these are.

ideally I want permanent migration but looking at the amount approved it’s a no go for the time being so best option is to start the process and how this changes.

if it is meant to be it will happen but first need to see the options and weigh it all up.

thanks for your help 👍
