Guest NeilEB
So there I was looking at a map yesterday and stumbled across Lake Disappointment. Is this the best named place in the whole world? (apart from maybe Freezy Water) Can you imagine living there? "Where do you live" "Lake Disappointment" "Oh yeah? What's it like?" "Surprisingly disappointing" (and yes, I know the reason for it's name, but still found it funny....)

phil
I have to go there. But having just looked where it is on a map, it's not exactly on the way to the shops. If I'm ever that way though, I'll be sure to actually wallow in Disappointment.

I can do that here - visa's, house sale, moving costs etc..... ;-)

Guest craigandkerry
If we are trying to find amusing Lake names, I was in Canada a few years back and stumbled upon the following........................... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Minnewanka
Guest NeilEB
I quite like "Deception Bay" in Queensland too. However whilst Rainbow beach sounds tranquil and idyllic, I'm not sure the same can be said for Tin Can Bay. Gotta love those Aussie names
Guest craigandkerry
On to the subject of Bays, well the best/worst has to be Shark Bay. Why on earth would someone want to swim in Shark Bay, are they thinking the name is ironic???
