  1. Hi guys, Wondered if you fancied meeting up one weekend on an evening in Mandurah? We have a 16 year old and are not far from you in Meadow Springs.
  2. Hi guys, I hope you are settling in, I'm sorry for the late reply also, our house is on the market and it has been a little bit crazy. I will PM you the details as I am not sure if I am allowed to post them on here.
  3. That must have been so difficult for you, cuddles are not quite the same in the brace are they. She wore a Boston brace, she still has them all. We covered them in stickers when she was little. Is your little one getting a brace? We were at the hospital in Shenton Park but were moved to Royal Perth until the new hospital is ready, which we were told is in April. We're in Secret Harbour,we didn't mind so much being less than an hour away from the hospital as we did a four and a half hours drive to Sydney when we lived in NSW,so the drive now seems nothing.Houses are cheaper here and we wanted to be able to have a pool as swimming is excellent for them. There is a great support group for Scoliosis the parents and children were lovely,we only went once,as my daughter isn't in the brace stage anymore and didn't really benefit from it she wanted to talk more about the op but nobody else was at that stage. There was another 7 year old in the group who was the youngest and all the other girls were older,I'm sure she would appreciate a little pal. I can give you the details if you are interested, they meet once a month. Hugs to you and your little one x
  4. Hi there, First of all hugs to you, it's all very daunting. The process is first of all GP, they then refer you to a Paediatrician who then refers you to the Scoliosis Clinic. My daughter was diagnosed at the age of 5, she wore a body brace until last year, her curves are so bad now the best a brace can do is hold it but she has wore it for so long she is fed up,she is now 14. She is on the waiting list here in Perth for spinal surgery. The waiting list is huge. We have been told she will not have the surgery within the next year and are considering relocating back to NSW in order to get her seen quicker. If I can answer any other questions for you, feel free to ask. Best wishes.
  5. I hope so she's not greedy, one will do
  6. Hi Rob, we are in Secret Harbour, although we don't mind travelling and meeting up with parents too. It's so hard being away from family and waiting for this operation I think we could all do with some company and a good laugh.
  7. Hi, I am posting on behalf of my daughter, she is 14. She would like to get together with some teens around her age. She is waiting for spinal surgery, so can't really get out and about to do much at the moment. She would love someone that would be happy to watch movies and listen to music with and most of all have a laugh with, she has a great sense of humour. I hope there is someone out there as she really could do with a friend. Thanks for reading.
  8. Thanks, congratulations to you guys too!
  9. Hi Deb, I could have easily gone back within the first few years, it was really hard. We have also moved around a bit so not been in Perth all that time. How are you going in Rockingham?
  10. 12 years in Australia, I can't quite believe it. I remember the day we left like it was yesterday. Children have grown up so fast, I really don't know where the time has gone. It hasn't always been easy we've had some tough times but we've come through them, but we've also had some amazing times. I finally went out yesterday and bought lots of photo frames after looking back on old photos that really made me smile. There were some crackers, parents on a camel ride had to be a favourite, that day was hilarious! We have no regrets and can't imagine living back in the UK, Australia is definitely home. To all about to make the journey, I wish you happy times, wonderful memories and lots of photos that make you smile!
  11. Hi Hopeful, Bailey is gorgeous!
  12. Hi, my daughter is around the same age, she likes The Hunger Games and The Hobbit along with many others. She loves to read the books then wait for the film to come out to compare it to the book. The one she is waiting for now is The Fault in our Stars she loved the book and can't wait for the film. She said would like to meet somebody who loves reading as much as she does and wants somebody to get excited with waiting for the film to come out. I think she would like to start her own little book club.
  13. Hi guys, Are there any young teen bookworms and movie buffs out there?
  14. Hi, A move interstate is forcing us to find new homes for our two mini lop bunnies. They are around 18 months old, both female and have not been desexed. They were bought from Droopy Ears Rabbitry and cost $140 each. One is chocolate and the other chocolate torte. They come with an indoor cage each with food bowls and water bottles and tubes to put in the garden for them to run through. We are asking $75 each as they come with cage and accessories. We hope some kind person will adopt them and give them a good home with lots of cuddles. Please message if you want to see photos.
  15. Hi Jo, It's a long time ago since we left the UK my children were 12,9 and 2. I remember my eldest was keen she has a very bubbly personality and is not shy at all, my son however my middle child was quite the opposite he found it all upsetting and was against the move and took a while to settle. I remember my mum giving them both a diary to write in before we left asking them to write about their new adventure and how they were feeling. My daughters was full of things we had done, places we had been, on my sons page everyday was I HATE AUSTRALIA. One night when I went into his room and found he had pulled his sleeves down over his hands and wrapped hair ties around them, when I asked him why he said it was so the spiders couldn't get in. I think he must have been frightened to death thinking Australia was full of things that would hurt him. He soon settled in after that he hated going to school in the UK but really thrived here making so many friends and cried when he left primary school. We still have the diaries now they are good to look back on they make interesting reading 11 years on.
  16. Ha ha very good, Freo's a bit far but imagine great for art stuff. Looked at the circus thing a while back, how good does that look. Daughter has a spinal problem though so she's limited to what she can do it restricts her quite a lot. We've done the enviro centre to death, was good she liked feeding the baby turtles. Thanks for your replies.
  17. Thanks for that we'll definitely have a look.
  18. Sounds good, could just be breakfast or lunch at Dome til the weather picks up.
  19. Thanks Ali, been looking online not the same as browsing in the shop. Looks like a trip to Perth, just reading the reviews sounds like they have a big collection.
  20. Hi I have a 13 year old daughter who is looking for some friends, she is a quiet girl likes to be at home most of the time but needs some company. She is more arty and creative than sporty and loves animals, still at the boys are gross stage. Anybody have a daughter similar personality? We are south of the river.
