  1. Hi mate, I done mine at a college in North West London, they said the exam runs from eight in the morning until four in the afternoon.......i was out of there by ten thirty, if you are a plumber you have no worries at all, you are shown to a booth where you have to pipe up a pan, basin and a jig to a boiler.....honestly i worried for ages about it but its so simple, good luck
  2. It's hard to get a job for us plumbers, although I have got my visa I now have to get my qualifications transferred and do a years work under the supervision of an Aussie plumbing firm, but plus side as I have a trade I should, hopefully, pick up work anywhere.
  3. Hi everyone, We are looking to export a car when we move to perth next year, we are trying to get an overall cost of what it would cost and seeing if it is worth it, anyone know how much it would be to get my car over there?? any advice appreciated .thanks steve
  4. Hi all, We have just returned from our validation trip, we spent 3 weeks in Baldivis (sor) we looked around so many suburbs south and north and we still think each suburb has its pro and cons so we are still not sure where to start our adventure, the suburb we seem to be favouring is mullaloo (North) any advice or opinions would be appreciated. thanks all steve
  5. Hi, we used destination oz, Mick is so helpful and very informative, we had our visa granted in July 13 and although diac (department of immigration and citizenship) are always changing the rules Mick is always on top of it. Good luck steve
  6. Hi, We too are flying to Perth on the 23/10 to validate our visas, we are staying in Baldivis, we have never set foot on Aussie soil so we do hope that after all the hoop jumping and the expense to get this visa we do like the place, to be fair we only ever hear good things and honestly could it be any worse than the UK??? cheers Steve
  7. Hi, we used Mick from Destination oz, we got our visa granted on 25/7/13, throughout the whole process we found Mick very informative, we originally started our visa application journey with darrell from Thinking Australia.....that's a big lump of money I will not be seeing again.....so when we found Mick we were very sceptical as I am sure anyone else would be about starting again with another agent but, as I said, you will definitely not go wrong with him. Good luck Steve
  8. Hi mate, we had our visa granted 25/7/13 and we are going to perth (Baldivis) 23/10/13 to validate and have a look around and if things look good, mainly job wise, we will be looking to move very soon, I am a plumber and have been hearing conflicting stories about work for plumbers so its gonna be a good thing to see for myself what it's like. cheers steve
  9. Hi Mark, Thanks again, we are coming over on the 23/10/13 to validate and we are staying in Baldivis for three weeks so if you are able to pass on any numbers of contacts that I could potentially meet whilst I am out there that would be great, I am hearing so many conflicting stories about work for plumbers in Perth it would be good to see for myself what the state of play is. Cheers mate steve
  10. Hi everyone, We have our visa and are coming to Perth to validate at the end of October for three weeks. We are staying with friends in Baldivis and we are wondering as to any other areas we should also consider looking at. We have an appointment with Makybe Rise Primary School in Baldivis and we would like to make the most of our visit so we will also be looking at areas such as; Rockingham, Port Kennedy and Secret harbour, are there any primary schools in and around these areas we should be considering? Also, is it right that we should really only consider "independent schools"? Obviously the area has to be right to make the move more settling and a happy experience for our young family! Any advice on areas and there schools would be gratefully appreciated! Regards, Karen
  11. Hi Mark, Thanks for all the info, I went through the vetassess process so people on here have been saying what your saying about the migrant conversion course, from what I see, it seems all the hoops we jump through here in the uk to satisfy diac means nothing, it is as if as soon as we get off the plane in oz we are labourers even though we have passed all the tests we have been set, still never mind eh..........how long have you been there and are you doing ok is the plumbing game ticking over ok???
  12. Congratulations nikki, we are exactly the same, we got our 190 granted Thursday last week, i too have been checking my phone every morning finally now I can stop........we too had a bottle of bubbly friday night.....we are going to perth in October for three weeks to validate and have a look around, jobs and schools etc..... Good luck, well done. karen
  13. Hi GMAC, We got the news that hopefully you will be getting....Visa granted.....It is such a great feeling I had my IELTS in October 2012, then my vetassess practical in December, I think I got the results from my practical about 5 weeks later, once you have the results you book your medicals and sort your police checks, then it is just waiting, waiting and more waiting, hopefully it is all worth it....the hard work starts now I believe..... Keep in touch Steve
  14. Hi all, We finally got our visa granted today and we are over the moon, it has been a very very long journey and I now know an even longer journey is to begin, apparently this was a doddle compared to what now awaits me.....any plumbers out there that have settled in Perth I call on you to advise me of the best route to take now, absolutely any advice would be greatly appreciated. many thanks Steve
  15. Hi mate, I did my plumbing vetassess at the college of North west London in Dec 2012, they said the day would be from 8.00 am til 1600....I was done and gone by 10.30.....if you are a plumber you will pass, honestly I worried for months about this and it is soooooo easy.....pipe up a basin and a toilet then a jig for a boiler, all waste pipe is push fit, you then do a little bit of gas pipe using threaded pipe using hand stocks and dyes (I always used the Rigid machine and have never used stocks and dyes) they show you how to use these so again do not worry, the questions again are easy, just swat up on septic tanks as you will be asked questions about them, that probably the hardest bit. good luck, if you are a plumber you WILL pass. Steve
