  1. Thanks for the replies, it's good to know that you can get a job! Congrats to you both. Will def go down the supply route after that feedback, keep applying and keep my chin up! I've found the application process so long, each cover letter takes me a few hours! Yes, changing it each time to suit the school takes forever!! But I will plod on. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you sharing your experiences.
  2. Hey Lauren! I'm in the same boat!! How are your applications going? I live in Fremantle - where are you?
  3. Hello, I am a primary school teacher, I moved to Perth at the end of June. I have applied for every job within an hours commute. I haven't had any interviews. I am finding it really tough so I am going to try supply teaching next year and hope to get my foot in the door that way. I have been teaching for ten years, also an outstanding teacher and awarded Lead Teacher Status. I have also been on the management team for the past 6 years. I'm currently working in a childcare centre - the money is shocking and and I feel like I have taken a massive step backwards. I have had feedback on a few of my applications. I have been told that my cv is good but I don't have Oz experience which is part of the selection criteria. One person said that my international experience was detrimental to my application. Also the amount of candidates per job is high - between 200 and 300 applications. I have got to know a few primary teachers here and they have all told me to investigate the supply teaching route as that's how people are taken on these days. I wish you the very best of luck - sorry I can't help with the Level 3 teacher questions, someone here should though!
  4. Hi, If you want to be assessed as Early Childhood Teacher then you need to be assessed by ACECQA. I am working as an ECT in a child centre and they said I could not work as an ECT without the ACECQA assessment. Mine took a couple of months. Hope that helps. Aine
  5. Hello, I have been in Perth for 4 days now, after looking around I have decided on Fremantle as an area to live. Places to rent are scarce so thought PPoms might be able to help - you never know! My husband and I are after a 1/2 bed place - fully furnished in Fremantle. Excellent references if required. Looking forward to reading any replies. Thank you, Aine
  6. Ah I´ve been driving in London for a few years, all year round on a motorbike. ... used to it...I found that site, will investigate it - thanks.
  7. Hello, I am due to arrive soon and looking to hire a moped for a few days to see the suburbs around central Perth. Does anyone know a good place? Thanks.
  8. Any idea what the salry for an ECT would be? I can find info on the govt sites about teacher pay but what about working in a private nursery? I have a contacted a few places but no response yet. Just an idea would be useful.
  9. Hello, Just to let you know my TRBWA registration came through this morning, based on a 3 year psych degree and a pgce primary. Aine
  10. Yes I do have some child development and child psych units in there. Will def post the results. Thanks for the response.
  11. Does the same apply for teaching Primary? I have a 3 year psych degree plus pgce in Primary Ed. I have already sent my docs of to TRB - just waiting to hear back.
  12. Hi Tayloal, When I got my PR, AITSL assessed me on my primary teaching qualifications , a 3 year degree plus my pgce. That was only to get the visa so that I could be sponsored as a primary teacher. This alone does not enable you to teach in oz. As a primary teacher I know have to have my qualifications assessed again and get registered with the TRBWA. To work as a pre primary teacher I have sent my degree, pgce and early years diploma to be assessed by ACECQA. I think getting assessed by ACECAQ might be your next step. Here are some contact details Website:www.acecqa.gov.au Email:enquiries@acecqa.gov.au Phone:1300 4 ACECQA (1300 422 327)
  13. Hello, I have my pr visa (primary teacher) and am looking to work as an Early Years teacher. I been researching this and can´t find out if my qualifications will enable me to teach PRE PRIMARY. I have a PCGE Primary and also a CACHE LEVEL 3 Diploma in Preschool Practice. I am in the middle of getting my qualifications assessed by ACECQA ( you don´t need to go through OQU anymore) to find out if my qualifications are enough to be assessed as a diploma , certificate or early childhood teacher level. Has anyone with the CACHE DPP gone through ACECQA ? Which level were you assessed at? Thanks in advance.
