  1. Hi Perth Poms just thought i would share a little bit of news which you may or may not know regarding buying a house over here before you get PR ,basically since start of this year a new money making policy has come to pass ,all new applications will have to pay a one off nonrefundable fee of between $5000 & $20000 depending on value of land and build etc. Also however unlikely its payable on every application so make sure you don,t get caught out because unless really bad circumstances its most unlikely you would get your money back.Found this out yesterday after being told to have a look at the site and boy was i a bit shocked ,could understand it if i was really an overseas investor but we have just completed first year living here and love it ,oh well just have to grit teeth and get PR .
  2. Hi All a fews of us poms meet down Madora bay tavern on a thursday night (just to ease ourselves into the weekend) its got a fun atmosphere ,a bookies, a couple of pool tables ,tellys galore if thats your sport thing, and cheap beer plus a friendly lot of punters and lovely owners. If anyone fancys popping in between 5pm and 8pm more the merrier and see you there . Happy days as always Paddy Chitchat

  4. Hi Ali could there be some kind of dummys guide to the different kind of visas available out there as me and many more seem to be baffled about which one IS the right one depending on circumstances. Sorry if this has been asked for before. Cheers Paddy Chitchat

  7. Hi guys we live in San remo right next to madora bay and can honestly say both areas are fantastic ,really family friendly and can easily boast some of the best beaches in Mandy ,plus surf club and lovely little cafe right on tbe beach .Our daughter 13 yr goes to fredwick irwin school settled in a treat and doing very well and making lots of new friends (i don,t know why we worried so much kids adapt so easily). Also for the dads theres a little pub on madora bay foreshore where a few dads meet up on a thursday night for purely social reasons ha ha.Any questions give us a shout. Living the dream Paddy Chitchat

Welcome mate and good luck with everything ,great part of the world to live and lots of good suberbs to choose from so its all a case of horses for courses really ,ask around the sights like Lou mentioned for work as there are loads of new build from Dawesville up to Singleton.Rental wise can get a great place from $400+ 4 X 2 so you might be on to a winner straight away if you can rent yours out for more.Any enough rambling welcome to Wa. 13. Hello fellow Poms well 200 days have passed since we touched down in the merry old land of OZ ,in that time we have done all the usual things like find a rental ,get a car , waved daughter off to her first day at school ( its ok she is now talking to me lol ) sorted out medicare , driving licence , been to the good guys and had a bloody great haggle on all our white goods , spent a fortune on a dome brekkie and met up for a beer or two with VS who should change his name to google he really is like a human search engine theres not a lot he don,t know about life in Mandy plus a top bloke .In that time also started my business so got to grips with some of the do,s and don'ts of Oz business practice but its all good once you get your head round it .Have met some cracking Aussies as well as kiwis ,South Africans, Japanese etc and lots of fellow Pom,s all with the same common goal Yep enjoying life and giving there familys a good life but not taking it all too serious .So to those of considering a bit of a life change !! i say go for it seize the nettle make the most of the cards your dealt with , yes its tough and don,t let anyone tell you otherwise but there are loads of great people over here all going through the same experiences .Yes there are days when you miss your mates and family and you can,t just pop in for a cuppa but we have got well used to using Skype and Facetime even found out that when skype signal freezes up realatives can still hear you ( Sorry Dad).200 days in still feels like holiday every day can,t explain why it just does heres to the next 200. All the best Paddy Chitchat
