1. Hi we flew with CP a couple of weeks ago and to be honest they are reasonably good. The entertainment system is good, plenty to keep you occupied etc. The only downside is the food. It is your typical attempt at trying to do something Cordon Bleu in a tin which just doesnt work. Thankfully you can take food on the flights with you (some people were eating boxed salads), just make sure you dont take anything off when you get to the other end! The transit in HK airport is good and clean and we chose this as the place to wash/freshen up on the journey. We travelled with two kids (12 and 8) and made the mistake of not ordering a childrens meal when we made the booking. It does make things that little bit harder especially as it means that you just have to order something which they can at least pick at and then eat the breadroll! Overall the experience was fair. We fly out again in around 4 weeks and will by flying by Singapore Airlines, basically because its cheaper for when we want to go (around a grand cheaper than Emirates) and will make sure that we are well fed at the airport and take something for the kids to nibble on during the flight. You can always starve yourself as whereever you seem to go in Perth there is a Red Rooster/Chicken Treat/Subway/Macdees along the route! Enjoy your flight!
2. Speaking of Christmas decorations, they were hand painting baubles in the Rockingham centre last week, looked really nice as well.
3. Hi, sounds good, yeah we noticed how friendly the kids/and everyone else is. They also visited the judo club they will be going to in P.K and found it to be the same. Went out for a curry in Rockingham (Spice of the Ocean) on Saturday night which was good, was around a half dozen couples and kids some of who we have known for years but didn't know until we had the visa that they also had moved out. Small world huh!
4. Hi Nessa, how you finding Safety Bay? We were there last week and loved it, has that warm feeling you have when you find that place on earth you want to spend the rest of your life in. We had a look around the school as well and the kids cant wait to get started next Feb in years 3 and 7. We even had out first BBQ on the beach there last week, big contrast to this week with high winds, lashing rain and more layers than you find in your average onion!
5. Hi Liz, we'll be out there mid-end January in Safety Bay/Shoalwater. Was in Perth last week and spent much of it on the beach in Rockingham. 2 kids, late 30's, outdoorsy folk with a few mates already in the Rockingham/Port Kennedy/Secret Harbour area. Can keep in touch if you like on here or fb Cheers Charlie, Donna and kids
6. As some people have asked which company provided what quote, these, based on our own requirements are: John Mason = £3425 Excess Baggage Company = £3460 PSS International = £3542 F&N Worldwide = £3608 Doree Bonner = £3800 Bishops Move = £3863 Crown Relocation = £4365 Average = £3723 but I didn't tell you that :ssign12:
7. Of all the nasty beasties in the Land of Oz my favourite has to be the spider wasp! It's a wasp that lands on the backs of spiders, paralyses it, injects it's eggs inside the spider, and when the little cuties are born they eat their way out of the spider. It's kind of like Gods own Karma! (Google spider wasp for pics of these little beauties, bless em)
8. Hi, we've just received a number of quotes (I contacted 14 companies) based on our situation: 2 bedroom semi-detached 20ft Container West Yorkshire-Fremantle Highest to Lowest 5-£4365 4-£3863 3-£3608 2-£3542 1-£3425 This does not include Marine Insurance but thought it may help to give those who are a little behind us in the migration process an idea of the range of prices for the size of container/building. Cheers C.
9. Been an avid fan of Masterchef Australia for a couple of years now. Can't wait to start messing around with new food. Never really been a big fish eater but actually looking forward to giving some of it a go.
10. Just one thing, it's best to shop around when it comes to flights! I thought I would work backwards and looked at airlines which land at Perth and look at their prices; loads of asian airlines which dont fly out of the UK. Was quite surprised at the Air Mauritius flights though..........

total for all travellers 1,235,204.00 MUR

This equates to £25,373.12 I want to fly on a winged horse for that amount of money!!!!!! So we are flying with Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong for $3600 (4 adults 1 child) Definitely worth shopping around and thinking what time of year you want (can afford) to go!
11. Just to add to my earlier comment: Our plan is: Visit the area we want to move to-have arranged to visit the schools in the area Take the kids to the judo club they will be joining - again have pre-arranged this Donna is also doing a St. Johns Ambulance first aid course (1 days training) to bolster her cv Will also be meeting with recruiters - again pre-arranged after building up a network over the past couple of years Zoo, Art Gallery, Museum etc. Did I mention we are only going for a week! If the recruitment discussions go well, we also have a plan for me to stay and for Donna and the kids to return whilst the house is sold. So the kids and Donna are packing light and I will be taking more stuff just in case. All in the detail!
12. Hi, we thought exactly the same; we received our permanent residency grant in May and thought when we went we would 'just go!'. However, selling our house is taking a little bit longer than anticipated. We also have to validate before 14th January, so as flights skyrocket in December we have decided to go over the last week in November. At the moment this is to validate, however, if our house sells between now and then it will turn in to being the BIG MOVE! Time will tell!
13. We've been watching old Steve Irwin programmes on the Animal Channel and apparently as long as your not crazy, say "croikey" a lot, and pick up snakes by their tails saying "croikey this is the most venomous snake in the world and its venom would kill me in seconds.........aww your alright fella.......look how he's trying to bite me liddle bugger" Then "You'll be right mate"
14. And I dont just mean the large number of things just waiting in the shadows to kill/sting/jab/eat you! I mean what are you the most fearful about your move to Western Australia? I've been wracking my brains (for about a minute or so) to think about what I am scared of, and after two and a half years of applying (two rejections) I cant actually think of anything that I am scared about our impending move 'Down Under'. We're just waiting for our house to sell, then its flights booked and away we go. So what are you the most scared about?
15. I've been telling my kids about the wonder that is lollygobbleblissbombs and how great they are (based on having them once when I was in Oz donkey's years ago). I am now concerned that they will just eat them and go "meh, dont know what the fuss is about" So I will hide them.....gollum style in my man-shed!
