Hi, I've been here for 7 months on a PR, I've hot 17 years experience as a welder/fabricator and passed the vetasses skilled assessment as a welder 1st class! I can honestly say the work is not living up to expectations, all the mining jobs want someone with previous experience as now they have gone a bit quiet they can be a bit more choosy, I must have sent atleast 20 resumes with excellent references but only 2 called back wanting more tickets like - working at heights and confined spaces! So I'm booked to do them next week, but it's certainly quieter than when I first started looking couple of years ago, hope it doesn't put you off though!!

We are going to head there for 1 ish, is anybody else?

Hey morts46, the trade is quiet at the moment, I've been here for 4 months on a perm visa and although found work straight away there is definitely not many jobs about

ha ha if you are familiar with primark in the UK you will love Kmart, they are pretty similar price and quality(!) and you can keep your long sleeves until your acclimatised if you have small children though i would get some decent clarks shoes and bring them, ive found them to be mega expensive here!!

we have only been here for 15 weeks so im sure there are better deals out there but we use Viber a lot, although the sound quality can be perfect one day terrible the next, facetime and skype, our internet is with iinet and they offer a package where you upgrade to an extra $10 per month and get cheap (how much this is I do not know!) calls to uk landlines, we've not done it yet but im thinking of it as speaking to my 93yr old Nan on anything other than the 'phone is not really working out as she cant text, doesnt even own a mobile and thinks Apple is just a fruit

We would be keen to meet families nor, we've been here just under 3 months from wales, we're a family of 4, (2 girls 7&5)

We've been here 4 days now surprised how me,wife and kids have adjusted to time difference and got over the jet lag, seemed to adapt pretty easy!! Getting things sorted, car, bank,phones, Medicare next, house viewings in next couple if days and between that job hunting! We are lucky to be staying with family but want our own place ASAP, because there is nothing like your own place especially when you have 2 children. Also does anybody know of any decent rental sites apart from the usual reiwa and realestate? Ideally we are looking at tapping, ashby areas? Thanks

No we are going straight through only a 50 min stop in Singapore, we thought that would suit the kids better!

Oh and glad you liked your flight with Singapore as we are also flying with them!

Wow alant what a way to start a new adventure talking about being in the right place at the right time!! We are staying with family in tapping to begin with!

We're a day behind you, we fly from heathrow tomorrow and saying goodbyes is definitely the worst bit, and today will be the worst!! But like yourselves alant we are really looking forward to this exciting adventure that awaits us in perth (just hope it's right for us)

We fly in just over 2 weeks, and have got mixed emotions, especially giving up a job to not having 1 out there yet, when I've got a family to provide for! But I see it that its now or never and just get on with the new challenges and face them head on! We are staying with family to start with in tapping, but hopefully get our own place sorted in couple of weeks along with the new job! 1 door closes and another door opens!!
