Lancelot1937
We'll be in Mandurah for a month, from Wednesday, from the UK and I need Broadband. Any suggestions? USB Wi-Fi dongle most obvious choice? Costs?
portlaunay
Hi and welcome to PP. Until recently we had a Vivid Wireless dongle. I think we were paying around $30 a month for unlimited downloads but connection wasn't great. Telstra do a PAYG dongle and whilst coverage is much better, when I had one I was haemorrhaging cash on it, around $50 a week.
dxboz
I have a Vodaphone USB $49 for 6 gig lasts 30 days - works fine
jamesw
Vivid Wireless have no coverage in Mandurah. The coverage map stops around the Warnbro area.
Lancelot1937
I have a Vodaphone USB $49 for 6 gig lasts 30 days - works fine Sounds good but I understood before that the junction of Mary St. and Leighton Rd, East, Mandurah, is a poor signal area. Someone last year said "Avoid Vodaphone" for that reason.
Candygirl
We have an Optus dongle and it was $30 prepay and lasts 30 days. Telstra do have a better coverage, or so we have been told.

Telstra do have a better coverage, or so we have been told. What did you get for $30? I use about 13GB a month. UK prices are a tiny fraction of OZ prices. I thought we lived in rip-off Brit, but I'm not so sure.
Candygirl
We only got 3GB for that. If you are using 13GB a month I think it will be costly for you. Bibbs is an IT expert. He may have some advice for you as he is in that field. Good Luck.
Daveakaginge
The worst thing about all of these 'rip off' deals, is that they are use it or lose it contracts. We are also paying through the nose with Telstra, and can't get a landline until mid December, so have to pay these highly inflated prices. Good luck with 13 GB a month, you best be rich! AndyandJo
I am on Telstra wireless and for £30 get almost a month. Not so good if you want to Skype with camera as it uses more of your credit but put $50 on and you get quite a bit more data. If you want to call the UK I use Optus prepaid and for $30 I get 250 minutes to use on 23 countries which covers me for 28 days and I find that sufficient. Lancelot1937
Latest - Sorry that it's taken so long to get back to my original message, but we're here for a funeral and there has been lots to attend to. I borrowed a neighbour's USB Dongle and she had been having trouble getting it to work. I couldn't, so I went to Harvey Norman to seek their advice. It wouldn't work for them and a "Faulty Device " notice kept coming up. Another neighbour had lent me an Optus pen. They put a new Sim in it and I loaded it with $120 and I'm happily on my way. The techie guy did mention that Optus are much cheaper than Telstra and I'd praise Harvey Norman for their helpfulness, way above what is expected. Thanks to everyone for their replies. Lancelot1937
In the UK I'm on TalkTalk and for an extra £3 a month I get all calls, all over the world, free. I can talk for up to 59 minutes, hang up, then ring again for another 59 minutes if I want to. My Broadband is with my phone line, unlimited, and fast at 14.5Mb/s all in for £32 a month, plus the above.
