traceylove54
Hi live just found this site after what feels like a few days of solid googling, so please excuse if I haven't found these questions already answered in earlier threads! After a trip to Perth over Xmas we are hoping to take the plunge and try to migrate across, family of 4. Thinking we will go on husbands points as he's younger than me (38) and is a HR manager specialising in oil and gas recruitment, hence the fascination with Perth - he seems to feel its the home of O&G in Australia. HR manager I have established is on the SOL. Does anyone know if companies still offer relocation from UK? He is aware that in years gone by many friends and colleagues have been offered jobs and visa apps have been sorted for them and their family. I think this was mainly pre recession and can't feel that we'll be that lucky now! I think we will have to do the leg work ourselves and get through the visa process etc?? I'm veering towards using a migration agent as the points and the process etc seem quite daunting and easy to get something wrong and as we are getting close to the top of the age limit (I'm 42 and work as an account manager in the pharmaceutical industry / also a registered general nurse but not recently practiced) I don't want us to fall foul of this by making a mistake on a visa app. Any advice gratefully received Tracey
verystormy
I think i replied to you on PIO, but if not: Yes, people can be sponsored for a visa by a company, however, this is usualy a temporary visa and comes with a number of issues (lose your job and you only have 90 days to find another willing and able to sponsor or leave the country. It also means several thousand a year in school fees). It is far better as a result to go for permanent residence visas. I think your idea of a migration agent is a good one. There are a number that are highly regarded including wrussel and Go Matilda, both of whom regularly post on here. I do think there are some issues that will require a bit of care in your application, so an agent maybe good. They are not cheap, but i have used them twice and think if you are going to consider something as life changing as migrating around the world and spending some fairly significant cash, then a few thousand on using an agent is money well spent
traceylove54
Hi thank you very much for replying to what must be a pretty repetitive question, I did also post in PIO before I found this perth specific site. Thanks again. I think I'm coming to the conclusion a PR visa is the best way to go and am off to a down underline expo in a couple of weeks which should answer any final questions then it's off to the migration agents we go!! V exciting times!!
ali
The other thing to think about regarding visa's is the (temporary) sponsorship visa will also have school fees attached (they didn't previously). Good luck with the process
