travelchic
I've opened a bank account this week for when we transfer money. I can put money in anytime I like but I can't pay for anything or withdraw until I've been into the branch in Perth with my ID and collected my card and pin. Some of the Australian banks have branches in the UK but I think they're mostly London based. Just be careful you don't wanna transfer your money into an oz bank account to pay for things in $ and then find that you can't access it. sunflower
We haven't opened a bank account in Australia yet. I just opened one AUD account in Turkey to transfer later. I 'll open an account in Australia before we go there. We paid the visa fee with our agent's credit card and deposited Money into her account. ali
We paid in GBP - didn't open an account until we were ready to move and transfer money. As someone said you have to present to the branch with your ID etc. before you can use it properly.
