Swimming pool build and maintenance

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Has anyone here put in a swimming pool, how much did it cost to put in?

Also, what are the average monthly maintenance costs?

The kids fully expect our house to have a pool when we buy, and so far im only looking at houses with pools online, which is quite limiting, so guess we could put one in ourselves !!

Cheers

Apparently you can put one in for $25k...we are looking at building and the designer told me that. I am looking at fibreglass pools - less maintenance, warmer, and they can look good these days with good landscaping. Anyway, take $25k as a minimum to put it in. No idea about costs to run - just know they can be a hassle.

I talk to myself in my head,

Here is a summery,

No pool = No Entry

No Pool = No Move

No Pool = What was the whole point!

No Pool = Are you out of the freaking mind!

No Pool = So you came all this way?

No Pool = Where am I suppose to enjoy my beer?

No Pool = How am I going to send drunken selfies of me by the pool to all my mates back in the UK?

Hi, We are just going through the process at the moment, the ball park of $25 is pretty accurate for a fibreglass pool (obviously depending on what size etc you want and what time if the year you buy one). Dont forget though that this will essentially get you a hole and a pool put in it, you will need to add on costs for landscaping / paving and fencing on top. Ball park figure wise you are looking at around $50 per square m for real stone paving (plus labour to lay) and around $100 per liner m for glass pool fencing (there are cheaper alternatives). Plus any other bits that you want to have done design wise or any retaining walls that might be necessary etc etc. Its not very hard to add an extra $10k to your 25 original cost for the additional bits. Hope that helps and good luck with your search!

You might want to look at your quote for the glass pool fencing, cheapest I have found installed is $400 per linear meter, the stuff you buy in Bunnings is absolute junk, exposed aggregate paving is $90 sq/m

Neither fencing or paving were installed costs, just a guide to purchase price. Everyone is different.

Hey not saying don't have a pool... just saying... that after your Englishness wears off and you no longer find you are immune to water that represents a warm English day at the seaside l would honestly say that you would be lucky to see anyone use that pool outside of summer which could be from Nov to Feb depending on how quickly it heats up for summer... and l am being generous lol... but you still gotta maintain it... for the other 8 months that it sits there looking pretty...

I have also been dead set on a pool and my 2 girls would love one. Starting to wonder myself but daddy does give in sometimes
