Secondhand furniture shops

It depends what you're looking for. Hunters and Collectors on the Stirling Highway specialise in Danish furniture and have some stunning stuff but it is very expensive. There are a couple of good stores on the corner of Holland and Onslow in Freo and then there's a few interesting antique stores in Guildford and Northbridge.

As Ali said, check out the Op shops or go verge surfing. This map gives you the dates of all the various verge collections; https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=212616531098077711607.0004a1033c282792e2363&msa=0

I've picked up some fantastic stuff from the verge. It takes a bit of patience and there is a lot of junk but when you find a gem it's so worth it.

Is Verge the same as a garage sale? Sorry I have not heard of this before:embarressed:

No. Each local authority organises the collection of unwanted large items once or twice a year. You pile everything you don't want onto the verge outside your house and they take it away. During the week leading up to the collection you can 'verge surf' and pick up the choicest items. It can be very lucrative, indeed there are people here who make a reasonable living from it.
