  1. Unfortunately you only qualify for the MRA is you are a member of CIMA, which I am not. It's worth noting that if you apply to be a member of CPA first through MRA or with exemptions and gaining affiliate status they then conduct your skills assessment free of charge. A lot of people don't bother transferring but I felt it wouldn't do me any harm in the future considering I am fairly young and intend to be here for the long term. I am only applying for part time positions and I have 2 interviews in the next week so I'm finding the job market fairly good so far. I have heard it is fairly slow at the moment but compared to the UK there seems an abundance of jobs to be honest
  2. Hi lulu In the end my husbands employer agreed to sponsor us for our 186 pr visa, so I haven't applied for the skills assessment through CPA Australia. I did however apply to transfer my membership to them from ACCA and I think the process is similar. I has to fill in a form and get my employer to sign it to verify my number of years experience, you may be able to get a colleague to do this rather than your boss if you'd rather not tell them. I also had to provide them with a transcript of my exam results from ACCA. They then got back to me with a list of exemptions but I still need to sit the final 4 exams before they will admit me. I'm doing these in October and May next year. Hope this helps a bit.
  3. Suits me too OH might be at work but i'll still come with the girls Will be nice to meet some new people.xx
  4. I'd be be up for that. Could probably rope in Bridges too
  5. Hi Sully Me and you sound quite similar. We came over with my heart set on Duncraig High for our girls, they are still young but don't want to have to move them again. When we got here there were no rentals we liked at all in duncraig and after having a drive about we much preferred Hillarys. Anyway we took a rental in hillarys that we fell in love with, a little pricier than we had intended but I feel it's worth it to feel completely happy about it. We are walking distance to the boat harbour and the flinders ave shopping centre which is great and very 'local' in feel compared to some of the huge centres. The house prices in the older part of hillarys are similar to Duncraig so that's hopefully where we'll end up buying. Our daughter starts hillarys primary on Tuesday. So far I don't have any complaints about the school. Anyway hope you get something sorted soon.xx
  6. Hi zebradeb we arrived a couple of weeks ago too, and have just moved into a long term rental in hillarys. We have two girls aged 5 and 2. Our 5 year old starts hillarys primary next week but we too are interested in St Marks. Its just around the corner from our house and looks amazing. I've heard though that there are huge waiting lists so I'm just wondering if you managed to get a place from the uk? Also how old are your children? I didn't think I wanted private school until I saw it and the fees are really reasonable. Thanks Susan
  7. We haven't sorted any of the important things tho! Still no Medicare and i don't have a bank account or tax file no yet. I seem to have my priorities upside down! But we loved the house and so had to go for it. I'm an accountant same as you guys Lou. How are you finding the job market? I was a finance manager for a manufacturer back in the uk. Hoping to get something similar here.xx
  8. We arrived in Saturday and have had a busy week so far. I must admit when when we arrived in the darkness on Saturday night I felt overwhelmed and very far from home. It was a very strange feeling that I wasn't expecting at all. Thankfully that seemed to pass after a couple of days and I'm now loving exploring Perth. We had a short term rental booked in Carramar which I've found to be a lovely suburb but far too far out for me. Before coming I had my sights set on Duncraig/Carine as areas to live but after seeing them for myself I was a little disappointed with them. There weren't any houses we liked up for rent in either of them and driving about I felt parts of the suburb were quite unkempt. Anyway we have ended up applying for a house in Hillarys which we love, a little more expensive than I'd have liked but fully furnished so we'll save on buying furniture. So far been to Kings park and Caversham wildlife park and found both to be excellent. Next step is registering our eldest with school, Hillarys Primary, she'll be in pre primary year incase there is anyone out there who has kids in the same year. Hubby has worked offshore in perth for a while so we're lucky there is no pressure to look for work , going to start thinking about looking for work for me soonish, enjoying a little holiday first. Sorry if I've bored everyone! xx
  9. Definitely! Good luck over the next couple of weeks, hope you enjoy legoland. See you in a few weeks xxx
  10. We arrive this week as well, flying on Friday Completely stressed out as so much to do. OH is already in Perth so I've got to deal with all the goodbyes with family on my own with the girls, not looking forward to that part at all Container being picked up on Wednesday and whole house to clean eek, gonna be a busy week. Would love to meet you all on the other side. susan.xx
  11. Hi David We also have girls aged 5 and 2 and hoping to settle NOR around Carine/Duncraig area. We are arriving in 2 weeks. If you and your wife are interested in meeting up after you arrive just send me a message. We too are extremely excited - cant wait to get there now! Susan
  12. We have 17 days left, can't come quick enough now!
  13. hi lozzachino, hope you don't mind me asking. We are moving over in 6 weeks and plan is to stay in Duncraig which is not far from you. I just wondered if you'd mind sharing the places you do your food shopping? OH is in Perth and is always saying how expensive Coles is, so would be good to know the tricks of where to go before we arrive! We are a family of 4, two girls age 5 and 2. Thanks Susan
  14. Hi everyone, can't believe it's nearly April already! Not long and we'll all be out there. We fly out 7 weeks today. Had a busy few weeks, house is almost emptied of all our junk, just got a car boot to do next week and that's it. Handed in my notice at work so everyone knows now which is a relief. Family are not making things easy to be honest as they seem to be in denial about the whole move and won't talk about it at all, which I'm finding really hard to deal with. Just trying not to think about it, we will be there before we know it and all this stress will be gone. How is everyone else getting on? Excited? Nervous? Stressed out ha? It will all be worth if in the end - or so I'm told
  15. This is very true! Thankfully he's worked for them for long enough to know which one they are Good point tho.
