  1. Hi, When our CO was assigned he changed it straight away. So don't worry too much. As far as the medicals go we went ahead and arranged ours before being allocated a CO. In the time between arranging it and doing the medicals we were allocated a CO and he requested them straight away. Its up to you if you book it before or not. We did it because we were in a hurry to get in done. It only took a month from submitting the application to having our Visas granted. We are flying at the end of November and I start my new job in December. Its all happening! Good luck with your application.
  2. I haven't been on here for a couple of weeks, but I can't believe the popularity of this post. I started it in June 2013 to keep tabs on other visa applicants around that time. I'm realy pleased its been useful to others and helps when trying to work out timeframes of the whole process. For everyone going through it, keep in there its all worth it in the end. I have just received a job offer and I've accepted it. Its a dream job. I start 2 weeks after we arrive. we fly at the end of November. we are so excited. Good luck to everyone. I hope your dreams come true.
  3. 15 Weeks exactly for us. We know how you feel, we have everything organised but there is a lot to actually do. A lot of things cant be done until closer to the time. I'm looking for work at the moment, canvassing companies for when we arrive. My biggest fear is not finding work. We just want to get on with it now!
  4. Its a great feeling, we are all sorted apart from shipping containers which we have people coming to quote ove rthe next couple of weeks. I have a few people interested in me regarding work but as we are still 4 months away employers seem unwilling to commit. I'm hoping the closer we get I can secure employment before we go out. have fun organising, its a great feeling!
  5. I'm from Gloucestershire, OH is from Portsmouth, we live in Gloucester now but moving to Perth on 28th November 2013. Were both 35, and our son is 6.

  11. This is what we plan to do in the future. I will be interested to hear of your progress so please update us on the build. Where are you building, who is the builder etc. All good stuff to know. Thanks.
  12. I told some colleagues at work yesterday of our plans. They were shocked and then really supportive. I didn't realise but I think I will miss my current job and the frriendships I have made, but I know we are doing this for the right reasons. It wasn't ever going to be easy but that's the challenge!
  13. There is certainly lots to do before we actually move. Now the flights are booked we are looking into shipping and getting some quotes, renewing passports, opening bank accounts, applying for jobs, looking for rental accommodation, looking at the price of cars, on top of planning a wedding! I'm certainly not complaining though. Its so exciting. I hope everyone gets their visas granted asap and we can help each other with the organising our moves!! Good luck everyone!
  14. Thank you. We're doing it near Port Douglas up the coast a bit. A private beach!
  15. Also booked our flights from Perth to Cairns in April to get married on a beach!!
  16. Hi I will answer your questions in Red below: 1 - When I have a visa 190 granted is it the same as 189 as in that you get the visa validated in the 1st year and then you have a further four years to emigrate? Yes you have one year from the grant date or medical date or police check date, whichever is the earliest to validate the visa, then it is a further 4 years. 2 - Do I have to get a job for this state nomination whilst I am in England? I was not sure by something I read. There was talk about having an offer of employment but I think that was for if people live in Australia. I am a nurse in England. You do not need a job before you enter. Many Employers will not consider you until you have the visa. But you are supposed to live in the sponsoring sate for the first 2 years. Thank you. I was always going to go to WA but wanted to be open to moving anywhere so that my husband could be a traindriver as he is here in England. We have talked about it though and are prepared to stay in WA as it is the largest state and hope he gets a job. Also can I clarify. Is the visa 190 a permanent visa? I have only just decided to go ahead with this so I have not read up fully on this. I was all for going with the visa 189 The 190 is a Permanent Residency Visa Hope this helps and good luck with your application.
  17. Flights booked!!! 28th November!!!! 20 weeks and 3 days!!!
  18. Thank you Nancy, I hope your visa is granted very soon. Best of luck
  19. This is exactly what we are doing. After doing some research online I have found flights from London to Perth (these are all Qantas - using skyscanner) late November. One-way approx £640 Return approx £730 Cost to change date of travel £100 The price difference between the one way and the return ticket decided it for us really, we will have a flight back to the UK just in case or emergencies. Also we called Qantas about "special" migrant fares these were £900!!!! how kind!
  20. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. We can't wait to go, hopefully booking flights tomorrow!
  21. Thanks Cornishpoms, we are aiming to head out in November, how about you?
  22. Where abouts in Perth are you? We will hopefully be house sitting in Joondalup for the first month over xmas for some friends whilst they return to the UK for a visit. Have a good weekend, 30 mins til 5pm when i can sign off and fire the bbq up!!!
  23. Brilliant news, congratulations! We're having a celebratory BBQ tonight, the drinks are in the fridge chilling already. Nice to have some sunshine to prepare us for the move! When are you thinking of going? We're aiming for November.
  24. Thanks for the Congrats Jimbo. We are just sorting out our initial accommodation and then we will be booking our flights very soon. The job search is well and truly under-way also. We will keep you posted. The police checks are a relief arent they, even though you know you have done nothing wrong, there's always that worry until it comes back as clean! I mean I cant possibly remember everything I did in my student days!! Good luck with the medicals, you are getting very close now!!
