  1. I like Pot Mango, they are up in Wangara, they have a website you can view too. http://www.potmango.com/prod03.htm
  2. My husband and I (and kids) came to Australia in 2011 with an Employer Nomination Scheme Subclass 121 (PR) Visa, the company paid for everything (we had refused to move over with the 457 visa option) and the process from start to finish only took 12 weeks, that included applying for police checks from 3 different countries and having medicals done etc... It was actually only 5 weeks from the date the complete application was lodged with immigration department to us receiving our PR grant letter. The offshore ENS 121 visa has now been replaced with ENS Subclass 186 visa, not sure if this is the one that you are being offered, but it would definitely be better than the 457 option! * Only conditions we had on our visa grant letter was that we (kids and I) did not enter Australia before the main applicant (my husband) and that we all entered Australia within 9 months of receiving the grant letter.
  3. A friends daughter had 2 teeth removed and a chain inserted into the roof of her mouth (to help move two teeth) and braces, she was $10,000+ Sorry just reread your post. If your daughter has her extractions and braces done in the UK then you'd obviously only be paying for tightening/repairs etc in Australia, so not as expensive as $10K
  4. Fingers crossed! Hope you get the good news soon.

    Ants

Haven't tried it personally but fingers crossed!! When we used to live in Asia I cleaning the inside of my pantry, cupboards and around my windows etc regularly with neat white vinegar. Supposedly ants don't like it, not sure if it was just pure luck, but I never had an issue with the litter blighters in the 5 years we lived there
  6. You could drop it off at the Salvos?
  7. We shipped 5 guitars in our container from Singapore to here, and like Redsquare mentioned above, they were written on the list of contents and they were never even looked at?
  8. I have a very exciting weekend planned - not! I shall be working all day today and again all day tomorrow

    Singapore

As mentioned above, hotels around the Clarke Quay area would be ok. I would avoid all Hotel 81s, I haven't seen any good ones of them anywhere in Singapore to be honest! I did have a wee giggle when you said you didn't need to be around a shopping centre, very hard not to in Singapore, they have over 250 malls lol It really comes down to budget with your hotel choice too. Here's a link for trip advisor... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g294265-zfn18540-Singapore-Hotels.html Busses and the train (MRT) are excellent, just buy an MRT Ezi Link card (like our smart rider cards) from the MRT station and you use it to tap on and off the train and buses, cheaper than you would by paying cash. Oh NO change will be given on buses by the way!! A little tip if using taxis. Call the driver Uncle (male) or Aunty (female) while talking to them, they will think you are a 'Local Angmoh' and less likely to take you on a wee detour
  10. You will find that a lot of houses have a mixture of both bayonet and screw fittings in them. Light globes are readily available here with both regular sized Bayonet BC22, small Bayonet BC15 globes and regular Edison screw ES27 as well as the smaller SES14.
  11. My OH had to pay duties/tax for his motocross bikes, I can't remember how much though, sorry? But I do remember it took them nearly 3 days to clear them and they tried to charge him for storage!!
  12. Judging by the filthy cobweb covered windows I noticed while looking at open homes I'd say demand is very minimal lol
  13. Atwell is a nice suburb. You also have Aubin Grove just south of it. You could also look at Canning Vale, Kardinya and Leeming, they are all just a quick drive to Armadale. You could even go as far away as Fremantle to be honest, as you can avoid the rush on the freeways. Can't give you any advice on schools tbh though as my 2 have both graduated.
  14. I remember reading somewhere on the PIO forum during my research a couple of years ago that it was advised for over 18s not to work until you actually had PR? I found this on the government site... "Dependent children are usually under 18 years of age. If a dependent child is aged 18 years or more, the applicant must also prove that the child relies wholly or substantially on the applicant for their basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter." Not sure how much $$ they would allow for 'substantially'? This was one of the main reasons why we refused to move to Australia on a 457 visa, that and the lack of security that that visa brings... We had lived in another country for 5 years in that situation and would never do it again!! Australia is our 5th country that we have lived in, we also did a 2 year stint in New Zealand, never settled there at all. But, absolutely love it here in Perth! .
  15. As mentioned above , it really depends on your available space? Bear in mind that those fridges with water/ice need to be plumbed in and not all rentals have that available? We bought our fridge from Masters Home Improvements, 100% happy with service and price. We found that they were cheaper than The Good Guys etc... Plus like the other stores they price match too
