Guest guest9824
...as a music venue??? Just had an alert from Ticketmaster that Jack Johnson:wubclub: will be playing at the Botanic Gardens, Kings Park on 7th December and having never been to this venue, just wondered if anyone else has, and what they thought of it as a venue? I really like going to open air concerts and this venue is in one of my favourite places in Perth, really enjoyed ones at Sandalford, but they dont seem to be doing them anymore. Havent been to the Quarry yet either. Definately fancying a dabble....especially Jack Johnson playing...hope he does some of his old stuff!..seems like just the right venue on a summers night....:smile2: Interested in any comments on this one... pea

verystormy
We have seen concerts there - cant remember the last one - it was that commedian with the long hair and piercing eyes that sings. Anyway, it is an excellent venue. Take a picnic and rug and you can buy a bottle of wine there

verystormy
Yep, thats the guy. Excellent concert. Also say him play Judas in Jesus Christ Super Star at the new arena - he was amazing. Actually, that was probably the best show i have ever seen - the guy from Deal or no deal was Herod and Mel C Mary Magdelen. But Minchin was the star
glenvin
One of the best concerts I have ever been to was David Bowie when he played at Supreme Court Gardens I think it was either 2002 or 2003 . The organisers wanted people to buy drinks and food inside the venue so they confiscated my packet of cashew nuts but I got away with my bottle of wine hidden inside the sleeve of my jacket which I carried over my arm. It was a fantastic evening and Bowie was just amazing. In my younger days I worked at a concert venue for a couple of years and saw so many fantastic solo singers and groups but I always say the Bowie concert that night was the best i've ever been too. Glenvin, I am one jealous peanut! I love The Thin White Duke!!!! never seen him concert though, and I bet the Supreme Court Gardens was an amazing venue. If he ever came to Perth, I would definately go and see him. Massive Bowie Fan. Its amazing how resourseful we become when we are in danger of having a bottle of wine confiscated:wink:..like your style!
