elf on the shelf
We are in the process of completing my mums application to join us in Oz on a more permanent basis. As it stands at the moment we are flying out mid February and she is hoping to come with us to help out with the childcare and things whilst we can get ourselves sorted out. Now she is only planning ob being out for 2-3 months and will have a return ticket. So I am a little confused on which visa application we should do and when???? If i apply for a tourist visa now and then we submit the 2nd application before we leave will this cancel the first visa meaning she is refused entry? I had also considered submitting the 2nd application onshore but again i don't want to do anything which gets her in trouble for being in the country illegally. Alternatively do i wait until she returns home in April but will that mean she can not travel as a visitor to Oz later on this year? Sorry i thought our visa application was confusing but I cant get my head round this at all. Thanks in advance
ali
I'm not sure from your post which visa you are talking about, are you thinking of a parent visa? You have to have been living in Aus two years as a PR to be able to sponsor for this visa. Does she meet the balance of family test and would she meet the health requirements? Alan Collett
http://www.gm-parent-visas.com/parent-visa-applications-the-need-for-a-settled-sponsor/ Yes, watch the requirement for the sponsor to be "settled" in Australia when a parent visa application is lodged. Best regards.

Best regards. It won't be myself sponsoring it would be my uncle who has permanent residency. TBH i don't think my mother would settle permanently she is far to independant. The ideal situation will be for her to purchase/rent a small property in Oz whilst retaining a smaller property in the UK. Since retiring my mother is never at home and usually globetrotting to stay with friends in other parts of the world. up until now the 3 month visa has been fine but ideally she doesn't want to be tied to having to leave the country and then return based on visa rules.
