  1. Ex Beetle owner too - just wondering if the flywheel is reverse threaded, can't remember which way it turns though ?!
  2. Just bear in mind that just because the main applicant had validated the secondary ones haven't so watch the dates !
  3. Yep they do. Rush "hour" can go from 6 to 10 am and then from 3:30 to 6:30pm !!
  4. Urrm, isn't Rightmove a UK site. Depends where in Perth you are looking, a 3 bed can be found from as little as $300k ??
  5. Chardy

    60k salary

As a family of five we survived on $70k ok thanks to Centrelink payments but you only get those on PR.
  6. Sorry we didn't make it either due to needing to monitor my mums illness back in Blighty ;-(
  7. Our kids loved MS primary but stories of John Tonkin was a big driver for our move to Baldivis. Other than that it's a nice area, family friendly and quite laid back.
  8. Langley park had a limited alcohol policy this year which worked well on the whole. Great to hear folk settling so well ;-)
  9. Agree, our two cats are fine outside, not killed a bird yet, mainly spiders and roaches !
  10. No you don't have to register your arrival on a 175 - we still haven't registered with the state migration (176) after 14 months.....oops !
  11. It's the dog beach at the end of Bayeux ave. if you are on Facebook search for Shark Culling Protest Warnbro and add your attendance ;-)
  12. Our flights all the way worked out pretty cheap booked through Qantas as a Round the World ticket. We sorted accommodation, hire cars and theme tickets online ;-) Oh and we paid 90 pounds to take the 3 extra cases but only for the first BA leg, the rest we had a 2 piece each allowance so 10 cases !!
  13. Wow, don't hold back ! LOL ! I'd say only one quarter of SH is bogan. Warnbro and Waikiki are ok on the beach side of Warnbro Sound Ave. Our block is 572sq.m and we have a good size garden front and rear including room for a pool so if you can go 2 storey you can do ok on a 450. There is a new estate called Vista opposite Singleton they are selling but nothing has been built yet.
  14. We did 20 nights in Florida on our way taking in the whole theme park thing. Then leaving there we had to fly Orlando to Dallas then round to Brisbane for a 4 day stop before finally hitting Perth. Left Blighty with 8 cases and then left the US with 10 as the extra were holding Xmas pressies !
  15. Hi fifi, We were in Lakelands for a year and found it too quiet, now I'm the south west corner of a Secret Harbour and quite like it. Our new build on Baldivis should be ready in March. We will be in the Highbury Park estate and that together with Tuart Ridge are 2 of the more sought after areas. You'll need to be quick in Tuart though as the last lots are being released now and are a good size. Not too bad a commute from there either!
  16. Let's all please show the WA premier how the majority of us feel about the pointless murder of some of the most important ocean dwellers. I will be at Warnbro beach ;-)
  17. Trains are pretty good and getting on at Warnbro should get you a seat as it's the next stop up from Mandurah where the line starts/ends. We have been in SH for a month after our lease ended in Lakelands and we will move to Baldivis in March once the house is finished. It's pretty good here and we are a 2 minute cycle to the beach where the surf life saving club are so nice and safe ! The shops are OK as have the essentials (but could do with more shops and restaurants) plus the pub is really nice. Further North will shorten your commute but then it will up your housing costs so a bit of a balance to consider.
  18. Welcome arls, You will find most corporate call centres are based in Sydney or Melbourne unless the company is traditionally West Aussie. The commute from Secret Harbour to CBD is what I do for now and it's between an hour and hour and a half drive or 45 mins by train once you have got to Warnbro station 10 mins from SH.
  19. Our new house is in Highbury Park and just 250m from Makybe primary which looks to be great, our 3 kids start there in Feb. I agree Rivergums is overrated.
  20. Trust me, you'll want a tent with full built in groundsheets and insect nets here ! Camping is awesome here though, starry skies like you've never seen before !
  21. Hmm not 100% but going on past threads it will be the same. Any UK gas appliances need fittings changed and camping stuff is pretty cheap here. Our 2 burner stove was $50 plus $30 for a bottle which is around $25 to refill, Think seriously about your tent too, they are also good prices and much better equipped to deal with Aussie conditions. Our 4 room 9 berth cost $399 and it's an Oztrail, one of the best brands.
  22. Different gas fittings and possibly jets too. Camp stoves are pretty cheap here. Electrical, just buy an extension lead from Bunnings here, only $15 for 25m and the plugs are different (same as house ones). You can change the plugs on your kettle etc or bring a UK multiway adaptor and put an Aussie plug on that.
  23. I really don't feel the isolation, WA is the largest state so has so many places to go to for short breaks like Margaret River and up north too. I fly interstate for work and don't feel it's a long way to the east coast or wish we had tried to settle there, it's just too full on for my liking ! I love our "little" city and am proud to see it in the top 50 places to visit in the world according the the New York Times !
