There are deals to be done with white goods over here, especially if you are buying a few items. Got a decent deal at one place for fridge/freezer and washing machine then went next door and they bettered it by another $100!

What's everybody got planned for Australia day? We were thinking of heading into Perth cbd but thinking it may be too busy for our little one so we may head to Fremantle instead as we've been told it is a bit quieter there- anyone know what is planned there? Hi Jacqui, I'm a secondary teacher, we've been out here a few weeks. I was told that employers wouldn't look at me whilst I was still in Uk but still thought I would try anyway. Had a few interviews and was offered 4 jobs in the end, so it can be done! I looked on jobs wa and registered my email address so I got alerts everyday which was good as it filtered out the jobs that weren't applicable. I did my teacher registration with TRBWA as soon as we got our visa grant and made sure I mentioned I was already registered in my applications- not sure if it helped or not but at least it was one less thing to worry about when we arrived. We got talking to another English family in the park earlier this week and she was a primary teacher and she said that last year she was doing supply work and there was only about 3 days in the whole academic year where she didn't have any work! Jumping for joy as we've just picked up our new car and got home to a message that we've been accepted for the rental property we really wanted! Amazing how much better we feel!

Good luck with the move! Don't worry about flying- I was dreading the flight with our 15 month old who really doesn't sit still for longer than 2 mins but it was absolutely fine. She slept a bit, sat a little bit and we had plenty of walks up and down the aisles! Cabin crew made a fuss of her as well - it'll fly by! (Pardon the pun!) She adapted quite quickly to sleeping at a different time over here too so I'm sure William will be fine. [emoji3]

We said our goodbyes at home then travelled to the airport on our own. Kinda wanted the journey down to be the start of our adventure and we didn't want ppl upset at the aiport then having to make the long drive back. Everybody's different though. What are you thinking? Nicola

We flew Singapore from Heathrow last week. Had a couple of glitches at check in- we had booked seats together and bassinet well in advance and had 3 emails confirming it then at check in were given seats in different rows, all sorted though. A380 is nice plane, plenty of room and quiet and a lot smoother flight. (I'm a nervous flier and I felt ok on it) 2nd leg from singapore to perth was prob only half full and staff were particularly excellent and like others mentioned good with babies.

Wondering if we can afford one of the houses on the front at Hillary's......deffo not I think!!!

Finished work today after 10years service, the next week will be very busy seeing family and friends then this time next week we'll be all checked in and waiting for our flight! Still doesn't quite seem real!

We had 60 too, had no probs getting visa. Some people do ielts to boost their points. Good luck! :-)
