Guest Chops9
I'm a Project Engineer in Civil Engineering. Flew in last week, still on the hunt for work. I've over 5 year on site exp in rail, roads and buildings. Things are slower than I thought but its early days yet and the mining slow down isnt helping. Friends are saying WA = Wait Awhile! and it took them 4-6 weeks to get going with work so it looks like a lot of calls and emails over the next while. Guest naseefoz
Hi JoandGareth, Me too a toolmaker and I am stuck up at the SS with WA. If you dont mind, could you tell whats the score of your hubby? Does he have a SS from any state? And also, it would be helpful for me if he can provide the settlement information details of his application. Which one is the better one in SS ? 190 or the 489 Naseef
Pinkpopy123
Hi , thats what i was hoping this thread would do .. give certain info about jobs people are coming over to and be a help Anyhows hairdressing in Perth ... loads and loads of salons , they are starting to rent chairs out i know one does in secret harbour .. The colour companies over here do really good training course iv'e been on some great ones .. Hairdressing stuff is extortionate all of it .. bring all your brushes scissors ( buy new if you can there ) i just paid $700.00 for two pairs:swoon: save all the receipts for end of year tax returns ! ( though the first salon i worked at would not let me change the plug from english to Australian .for saftey reasons .. so i had to buy new Dryer , clippers etc) you are expected to provide your own stuff in most salons like dryers ,clippers , straighteners etc .. then being self employed your used to it ! I nearly fell over with shock ..only ever did that with scissors and brushes . All the same products .. Wella , scwartzkopf, loreal, matrix, redkin etc I used to work in Midland shopping center and now i work for a Keune salon in Baldivis ( more like a village salon ) and love it they are from holland .. oh yes, they love their bleach over here lots of it and lots of toning :rolleyes:and hair extentions ! Being a old hairdresser im glad i can get the colour im gonna need for my hair, whoohoo if products are more or less the same yey x

Hi Chops, I'll be in a similar situation to yourself in February. I am a civil engineer and have 8-9 years experience in building/civils work. Currently working as a section engineer/site manager for a reasonably sized Irish contractor in Scotland. I have flights booked for 20th February and looking forward to it. You'll have to let me know how the job search goes.... I wouldn't mind a few weeks of job searching/chilling out when I arrive but I assume that 4-6 weeks is going to hit the savings pretty hard!!! Did you do much searching before you went out there. I plan to start applying late November, about 3 months before I am due to arrive. Anyway, good luck with job hunt and let us know how you get on!!! Jonny
