  1. I was able to send an eye gel with my dog and they administered it to him every day. They ran out and they let me take another lot in for him which they gave back to me when he left.
  2. I can't wait for Christmas this year!!! We arrived here last October and spent our first Christmas here a bit shell shocked, we didn't really know anyone, so it was just us. This year we are having our first visitors, my daughter, son-in-law and our 2 granddaughters are coming, I am so excited!!!!

    Aussieversaries!!

8th October 2013 we celebrated our 1st anniversary
  4. My daughter started high school in February and they haven't asked for anything from the UK.
  5. My daughter spent a few weeks in primary school when we moved here and she wore canvas shoes. She is now at high school and is still wearing canvas shoes.
  6. We are from Doncaster, we have been here since October 2012, now living SOR in Baldivis
  7. We had been to Australia several times visiting family on the Central Coast, driven to Brisbane and Canberra but never been to Perth. I always thought we would end up in Brisbane. We never gave Perth a thought until OH decided to get in touch with an old friend and found out how much work was available here.
  8. We were granted our visa in 2008 but didn't move here until 2012.

    Happy Happy Happy

We used Go Matilda and are happy to recommend them. Good luck with your application.
  10. Yes they get on well and have a met a few more times since.
  11. When we first arrived here in October we were in accommodation supplied by my OH's employer, there kids played in the street on skateboards and scooters and my 12 year old daughter went out and introduced herself to them and quickly made a few friends. Unfortunately since moving into our rental in Baldivis things have changed, there is no-one here playing out. She did manage to get into school for a few weeks before the end of term but she wasn't there long enough to get to know anyone properly. We have a park near us but all we see there are really younger children with their mums. Luckily she has met someone through Perthpoms and she is going to see her this week, which she is really looking forward to, but I wish she could get out a bit more.
  12. Hi Kev and Mandy, ozhouserentals do have pet friendly accommodation, you can also try aussiemove (not sure if they do or not). Look on realestate.com too to get an idea of long term rental prices. We have a dog and he was in quarantine for a month, but he came over nearly a month after us as there were no vacancies at Byford. It took us about 5 weeks to get a long term rental. Good luck!
  13. Hi Paula I've sent you my contact details.
  14. Thought I would see if there are anymore older mums who would like to meet up ( don't have to be a mum)! I am in Baldivis but can travel once licence is sorted (long story).
  15. Have a look at pop-a-lot.com they sell popcorn spices. I like making the caramel popcorn!
  16. A friend of mine whose mum-in-law is in a similar position health wise, arranged for her to be escorted between flights, if your mum is ok on the flight on her own this may be an option.
  17. Thank you to you and your wife we all had a very enjoyable evening, it was great to meet everyone and finally put faces to names, thanks again.
  18. This is a good place to start http://www.immi.gov.au/ good luck!
  19. Sorry to hear things haven't worked out for them. What make of car is it and how much do they want?

    Hello

Hi, whereabouts are you, I am in Baldivis but have car and will travel
  21. Definitely 6, we arrived in October and it has taken us 5 weeks to find a rental. Good luck!
  22. It took us 5 weeks to secure a rental and I was giving up any hope, plus we were in a house provided by OH's employer that we should have only been in for 4 weeks. We have finally got one in Baldivis and I put every shred of evidence in the pack I could find, things you have mentioned, plus copies of our visas, birth certificates, UK and Oz bank statements, police checks we had done when applying for visas, OH's wage slips, we have a small dog so put in some pictures of him looking pathetic in quarantine, as I am not employed here I got friends who I used to work with to write character references for me, I spent a fortune at the local library on photocopying!! We also did something I always said we wouldn't do, we offered a bit more on the rental which is probably what worked, but we had started looking at higher weekly rentals in the hope that there would be less people showing up, but there were always plenty of others there despite the rental amount. I really feel for you as it isn't easy and it is so disheartening especially when I kept reading about people who managed to secure a rental on first application, I started wondering what is wrong with us. After going through this experience I feel sorry for people who turn up here having to look for somewhere to live and find a job. Good luck, I hope you find somewhere soon.

    Dog Export

We used Golden Arrow and I haven't any complaints. He's arrived safe and well, lost some weight and his bark, but we did have to leave him with Golden Arrow for almost a month as we had to be here at the beginning of October and there was no room for him at Byford until the end of the month. I am sure he would have been the same with whoever we had used. Me and my daughter are just getting ready to go and visit him.
  24. We used Go Matilda too and they were excellent, can't comment on price though it was several years ago we used them
