CharliePappa
And I dont just mean the large number of things just waiting in the shadows to kill/sting/jab/eat you! I mean what are you the most fearful about your move to Western Australia? I've been wracking my brains (for about a minute or so) to think about what I am scared of, and after two and a half years of applying (two rejections) I cant actually think of anything that I am scared about our impending move 'Down Under'. We're just waiting for our house to sell, then its flights booked and away we go. So what are you the most scared about?
verystormy
The threat I'd snakes worries me a bit. Not for me, but for my dog as he is a tiny chihuahua and we live semi rural and do come across them. If I was just moving over, then the economy and jobs would be a major issue. Guest guest9824
...everything!!! I worry about worrying....its one of my worst flaws and I hate it! It is the bane of my life. I wish I was the sort of person that had the hide of rhino, and nothing gets through that thick skin, but thats not the case. As I get older, I worry even more than ever, making myself ill in the process.... poorly pea
rootsandwings
I'm also a terrible worrier, something to do with being born under the sign of Virgo and over-analysing absolutely everything. My main concern is cost of living, but I figure that if WA is such a fantastic place to be, and I have no doubts that it is, then it's damn well worth the expense. I have an irrational fear of sharks and crocodiles - but let's call it a healthy respect and leave it there. Not so bothered about spiders, and unlikely to come across snakes I guess, living anywhere near the city. I have wanted to live in Oz ever since I was about six years old (I blame Neighbours and Home & Away) and I am 98% excited, 2% apprehensive. Fear is probably too strong a word. Bring it on! StraighttothePoint
Hearts being relegated this season is my worst fear followed by Hibs winning the Scottish Cup again in my lifetime:wink: Mind you there is as much chance of the latter happening given the last time they won it was 1902!! It is all about priorites I guess
fifi69
Before coming I was scared that I might feel Too isolated living in Perth, thankfully that's not happened. Yes, to leave WA normally means a flight but it hasn't bothered me (so far). in fact I kinda like it that we are on our own, makes it feel like we are a country in our own right!! Go away ACT and leave us alone:err:

portlaunay
I mean what are you the most fearful about your move to Western Australia? That when he's older my son will turn to me and say, "Dad, I wish we'd never gone/come to Australia, I hated every moment of it and it really hurt me." (I know my daughter loves it)
ROB T
In the words of the Ozzie, Baz Luhrmann, and his song 'Sunscreen' you must....... 'Do one thing each day that scares you'.....He also goes on to say that worrying is pointless and that 'The real worries in your life are the ones that never crossed your worried mind'.....I'm sure that there is a lot of truth in this. Good luck to everyone who's emigrating.

fifi69
Scared of snakes. Very much I think we are all scared of snakes Vijay. Hopefully neither of us will ever come across one. interesting to go and look at them at the local shows/fetes. See and touch them in a controlled environment is the nearest I want to get to them
Plimthing
I used to be scared of driving over canal bridges....wierd. Could you define 'scared of' as being the same as 'know nothing about'? I'm sure if you knew more about snakes and spiders you wouldn't be scared of them. I learnt that bridges, generaly of good construction, do not collapse when driven over and occupants of said car do not drown.

Mind you not that strange to be honest. If I had supported that mob then I would want be as far away from Fester Road as possible. jodipodi
I'm scared of being able to apply passing us by but also scared of thinking this is the best for my children and then everything going pear shaped, Id never forgive myself. We arent anywhere near emigrating at the moment but I'm scared of leaving my gran as I know we will likely not see her again and she brought me up for a small part of my teenage years, I wont be able to sit and drink tea and have a natter with her but more so the kids wont have that granny time with any amount of biscuits and juice and cartoons on demand in front of the fire! I fear my mam never actually fulfilling her wish to follow us over there once we make the move. When I think like this though I try to tell myself that regret isn't for the things you did do its for the things you didn't do and at the end of the day the decisions we make are usually a calculated risk, based on weighing up pros and cons....and a lot of dreaming. As far as wildlife or other non-emotional ties Id say I'm pretty much scared of anything that is a potential stinger/biter/eater haha...especially spiders though as the nasty ones are usually tiny..at least I can keep well away from sharks and crocs, cant see many of them fitting in me slippers...... travelchic
I'm scared of making the move and something happening to me and my little boy will be on his own far away from the rest of our family. My whole life revolves around him ensuring he's comfortable, feels loved, feels protected, feels safe. That he knows he can show me anything, tell me anything, ask me anything. I don't need a back up but he does. I try not to think about it but it does plague me. Am I mad!!! Debs
jodipodi
Nothing will happen to you and your boy will be happy and safe and loved. This is what mothers and fathers do...we think of the most extreme situation that will probably never happen. You have to make decisions based on the positive possibilities outweighing the negatives. All could change anyway Travelchic, might get yourself a hottie who will treasure you both Then again you might not and you might be more than happy living it up for years to come just you and your boy having a ball!! CharliePappa
We've been watching old Steve Irwin programmes on the Animal Channel and apparently as long as your not crazy, say "croikey" a lot, and pick up snakes by their tails saying "croikey this is the most venomous snake in the world and its venom would kill me in seconds.........aww your alright fella.......look how he's trying to bite me liddle bugger" Then "You'll be right mate"
rootsandwings
If I could somehow pack the ebullient, fearless spirit of Steve Irwin in my suitcase, (along with a few jars of Marmite and plenty of mozzie repellent), I would have absolutely nothing to worry about. The man was a legend. Barking mad, mind, but a legend. Anyone who can toy with venomous, angry, biting things with such carefree aplomb, panache and insouciance definitely gets my vote for "Cool Dude Extraordinaire"
