that Perth Poms is becoming quite a nice little community? I know we won't rival our big sister PIO but I'm finding it to be a little busier on here, we've attracted some lovely members who are willing to share tips, advice their expereinces etc.,

Thanks so much for making the site progress

It's certainly good to see more and more members joining and participating. The forum has been online since Aug 2006 and has grown considerably in the last 12 months. This time last year, the forum had 293 'active' members, now it has approaching 1000 'active' members. In the first 2 months of last year there were 571 posts made on the forum, this year, there's been 4726 posts made. Hopefully the growth will continue and at the same time, hopefully we'll still be able to maintain that community feel and friendliness that seems to pervade the forum.

Yep, defo a friendly place to be. Even with a little leg pulling regarding ninja Hunstmen!!

I keep signposting people here.

This isn't the only forum I regularly review and the biggest difference between this and others is the reoccurring themes here and it sometimes feels it would be better titled NotYetPerthPoms. That's not a criticism, I think it's an invaluable resource for those on their way but some of the more informative threads could organised into 'Common Query' type stickies and I sometimes feel it would be nice if those of us already living here had our own section. I don't mean this to be cliquey, I just think we are searching for and can offer different info/advice.

I didn't even realise there was a 'groups' section. :embarressed:

*Backs quietly out of the room to investigate*

Yes i agree ali, it is a really nice site & has a good community feel to it..i've been on PiO for a few years off and on and always found it full of info & just good to talk about Aus, as it is close to my heart (forgive the soppy stuff)..i have only been on PP a short while, so as well as PiO this is a great site for me..i have my family in Perth & our eldest lives there..we are also returning...it's good to keep in touch with people living there & what's going on..

Yes great site and I thank all of you guys for the friendly advice and encouragement.

Getting to grips with the processes involved with emigrating to the other side of the world can certainly seem like an onerous and daunting experience at times and that's why it's great to share thoughts and experiences. And that's before we have even made the move, I s'pose that's when the fun really starts!!

BTW I have tried to register with PIO under my name (ROB T) but found it to be already registered. Does PIO use the same login details as Perth Poms or does some unfortunate have the same name as me??

:skeptical:

I love this site and use it as much as POI, i find folk so friendly and willing to offer advice or even just to say Hello, it's so great for making friends and meet ups. I am older than most on here and at 54 making the move alone so old enough to be the mother of most on here LOL, but the experiences most offer advice on have no age limit so it's useful to everyone, i am sure this site will only get busier and make great progress. All good i think. Ann

Couldn't agree more, a big thank you to all you guys that took the time to reply and give us an insight to your experiences. Moving and making life changes are never easy but knowing others are going though the same emotions really helps on so many levels.

Cheers guys and have a happy Labour day off! :)
