  1. Keefo. It can happen everywhere in any major city. We stayed in Hillarys in a lovely house, when we were there. I still got woke up in the middle of the night by cars screaching about in the distance. I couldnt figure it out at first, but then a neighbour told me it was kids hooning in cars....that would seriously piss me off in my $2million worth of mansion if I was living there. We feel very safe where we live,we never lock doors and leave the house all night when we are away, without a worry. Will we do the same in OZ,not untill we are sure about an area. Nothing much happens at night out of the city. Its earily quiet past 8.30pm. Which was weird. But get up early and when off work, enjoy the weather! We felt safe on a recent weekend in Edinbugh, but some citys and towns I wouldnt let my dog **** in.
  2. If they can get past the snoring dog farting. The constant smell of nappies and the Mrs first thing in the morning. The rest they are welcome to.....
  3. I've got a flick knife for my dog to carry with him at all times to threaten those pesky little pretend dogs. Ours is friends with everyone and everything, and if he smells bribary treats in your pocket he will be a friend for life. He has been half attacked. He stood his ground the second time and the other dog buggered off. Dogs have a pecking order and are very well natured as a rule. Its usually the owners that are the problem.
  4. Oops lol I have done that so many times! And I really should know better. Can you not just suck it off the veg? Could count as part of you 5 a day:biggrin:

  11. ......and I have to sit an ielts exam:swoon:
  12. Arrgh,so it hasn't worked out for you. That kinda figures, you gave it a go,and now you are heading home. Would you be expected to be positive, about a place you are leaving? Others are just starting the adventure. I would imagine, that most on here are aware that things are not easy emigrating to any country, let alone the other side of the world. But,have decided to give it a go,and enjoy the process. Change is a good thing:biggrin:
  13. You moving back to blighty pretty soon then....... OZ is just another first world country, with first world issues. The main difference are the immigration policies. Also, the UK is skint big time. We can not carry on with these massive debts. Australia has a lot of natural resource, this would, enable them to dig themselves out of a hole if necessary. The UK has no such resource,we are a service sector led country. No major manufacturing,no industry and a very uncertain future. Wanting a change is not a bad thing, for some it works out,for others it doesn't. I for one, will have a fun time trying.
  14. Hey Mike You two seem to be in a similar position to us. We are even from Notts, just a bit further north near Doncaster. We have a great life here,we have been given the best gift in the world, our son Callum. We are lucky that my partner Anne can stay at home and look after him. I work for myself so ultimately if I want to knock off early, start late,or even have a day off,I can. We have a lovely home and enjoy a good life here. In OZ,I will have to start again. Having to retrain, starting as an apprentice almost, and work my way up again. At the age of 42,that will be fun! We are taking my parents only grandson to the other side of the world. If it doesn't work out,we will have blown a whole load of cash and will return to the UK practically skint and I will have to work for somebody again. So why do it? Because we can. What if things do work out? What if we love our new life over there? We are not kids chasing a dream. We can try it. We will try it. If you are both strong, enjoy life, and enjoy a challenge. Why not? My biggest regret would be lying on my bed just about to wander off to the pearly gates thinking. "I wish I had tried........" Cheers
  15. Now,that is the attitude to have when you emigrate:wink:
  16. There is a legal technical phrase for such actions in a case like this: Tell them to DO ONE
  17. Yeh but I'm sure there are good accountants in OZ aswell as the UK. I don't like paying tax,but only a bit:cool:
  18. Thats a poo idea......
  19. So around $4k a month or a grand a week there or thereabouts on average. Not that bad........
  20. We have a good council here that provide free doggy doo bags next to the poop bins. You simply help yourself to the bags. I find them particularly useful for the asbestos poo that sometimes leaves our little boy:shocked: Pick up after your dog, simple really. We always walk ours, when nowhere near main roads without a lead. He loves it,but everyone around here has seen him grow up.
  21. Hey Nikki Many thanks for the visa info
