  1. It depends on how many of you there are. I would say $100k for two will be just fine but if you have 12 kids you might struggle.
  2. When you are first in such heat it also has a mental effect on you. So try to stay cool both physically and mentally. Sometimes in the heat you need to count to ten more often than in the cold!
  3. Those tags are officially the best/cutest thing I have seen this year so far
  4. I'm an amateur stargazer. if you head out of Perth a little bit the night sky will take your breath away. I'm out past York a lot and on a clear night the stars are just astonishing
  5. Just be aware that taxis in Perth are a nightmare and on NYE they are even worse. Last time I tried to get one I didn't get home till 4AM (after finishing partying at 1AM) and I was lucky to get a taxi at all! So try and prebook something or go somewhere you can walk to.
  6. I wouldn't be without it but my advice would be to use it when you really need it and don't have the inside like a fridge as I find that, when the difference in temp is too great, you never get used to it being hot outside.
  7. Ha Ha no he is a science geek answering lots of questions people call in with. He's on 5Live in the UK too. Google Dr Karl and you'll find him.
  8. Triple J but only because Dr Karl is on it - music generally awful but then I'm an old giffer
  9. You can't be related. I got a local solicitor to do mine she only charged me £5 took 2 mins.
  10. Have you got an ipad/android device? If so try Real Racing - its a free app and includes Bathurst as one of the tracks - its awesome!

    Hire Cars

Another vote for No Birds. You'll be amazed how many white corollas you end up parked next to all over Perth.
  12. Into the Wild is a great film. In a similar vein check out Grizzly Man by the brilliant Werner Herzog (its a documentary). If your son is struggling with that song tell him to check out a website called ukulelehunt as there is a slightly easier version transposed there. Also check out a website called scorpexuke which is a guy in Oz with loads of great songs to play. Sorry not meaning to hijack a movie thread with Ukulele guff!
  13. Hi, what do you mean by provider? Are you talking about a VPN?

  15. You need to be in the mindset that its not a holiday. Apart from the stuff you have mentioned you should do some realistic shopping, pricing food, furniture, white goods. If you know where you will be living/working then make the commute at the time you will be doing it to see how easy/annoying it is. Do some stuff in the evenings like go to the cinema or go bowling ie stuff you wouldnt do on holiday probably but stuff that is handy to experience. Don't know what kind of visa you have but there is not a lot you can do around admin stuff like driving license, medicare, tax until you are here for good.
  16. I only use Emirates but when they have space (not often) in Business Class they will send you an email at some point beforehand offering you the chance to upgrade if you are already booked in Economy. The last one I got was the Perth to Dubai leg and I think it was a $700 upgrade. I think most airlines do this kind of thing now and coupled with the fact that most run at near capacity in all cabins these days you will be unlikely to get an upgrade at the airport, you never know though!
  17. http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-wa-queens+park-112488779 We are selling a property in Queens Park. Its on a large block and would be a great redevelopment/first home.
  18. New Years eve in the city is cool, lots of bars and places open. I went to Burswood and it was OK, bit dated to be honest. One thing I would recommend is either staying in the city or pre booking a taxi home, I had to wait till 4am in Fast Eddies eating toast and coffee - not exactly how I planned it to end!
  19. I just got my Visa today, I applied in late December 2011 offshore in London and was told it would be closer to 7 months which is how it has worked out. The good news for me however is that I have been granted PR straight away. Good luck
