  1. I agree - not until you are on shore, same applies for your police clearance.
  2. I'm really not sure on the medical side ring though someone may be along shortly who could know more. I think it's difficult to say depending on the specifics, perhaps you could request advice on this area from one of the places who completes the . Medical. We went down to London to do ours and it wasn't straightforward. They were helpful and accommodating. Perhaps that could be worth an email or call - could save you some money.
  3. *someone does - trying to type on a tablet
  4. Hopefully they did, that would be lovely! - my friend goes every year & has promised me year on year he would take me. It never panned out though, useless creature. Think it was because I was too easy going about it and he always had a queue of louder people wanting in on his allocation. Now next time I won't be here! I hope so done does a WA bucket list we can all start planning towards! That would be fab. A 100 things to do get there..... a 100,000 things to do before I can get there!
  5. So I have done 12 of the things on the list, no sure how many more I could do. Always fancied Wimbledon but never been able to justify time off work to go- teachers already get bad enough press but literally short of a strike day no chance - these have never been held over Wimbledon sadly imo
  6. Usually fees are due at the start of each school term of which there are four· The better schools particularly high schools - expect to pay a premium rental- also look at private education. You may be surprised to discover that it is nom in all in comparison to uk, plus you can get more bang for your buck rental wise as you are not limited by catchment boundaries. Do keep in mind that state schools fees are nominal, you're not talking talking thousands and thousands so don't panic just yet. Get an idea of area, email the local schools, they will tell you the charge. Good luck with it all

Good luck with everything. This will be me in a couple of months and I shall be looking for reassurances too for sure. All the best and looking forward to hearing about your adventures xx
  8. Hi All, some guidance please... are Paracetamol, ibuprofen& loratadine available over the counter at supermarkets for example as in UK? Also I will need replacement epipens too. Guessing they will be prescription. - how does it work? Does one go to the GP, get a prescription and then acquire said prescription from a pharmacy? Just trying to think ahead... allergies are a real problem in this household ! .. its crazy that amongst all of the things I need to get sorted and soon, that this is keeping me awake at night! Beam me UP!
  9. I haven't started my process yet and neither has OH.... we were going to just register on shore... I am super worried about jobs and just hopeful that something comes up very quickly indeed. How much was it to register guys??? and would you recommend registering from UK before we go..... how long is it taking??? ....questions..questions
  10. as I am sat here sneezing away a thought crosses my mind,..... can you buy loratadine over the counter in WA? My hayfever and allergies are ridiculous! ..... and can you buy paracetamol and ibuprofen over the counter too?? ...
  11. so if coming over in July/August, a Reverse AC system is a must have then by the sounds of it! ... if not are the oil fired electric heaters fairly accessible and affordable to run? OMG the thought of coping without central heating in those temperatures
  12. good luck with this, I really hope that you get through the tests and get to perth on schedule. All the best
  13. I'm starting to panic and wondering if I am doing the right thing. I feel like I have so much to do and its just not getting any easier. The task seems so huge I just want to fast forward. Also the cat went to his new home today... this has made it feel very real. I am quite upset by our parting of ways, can't begin to imagine how I will cope with saying bye to people! I would be sleeping a whole lot better if at least one of us had a job to go to. This is my biggest worry at the moment. Guess many of you guys already have the t shirt on these kind of emotions. ...
  14. Hi All, I've just read through a checklist before you leave document, in which it states that you need to ask your doctors and dentists for handover files? Is this correct? Is most of it on line these days that can be emailed across when requested from Oz? Has anyone got any advice or experience with this? thanks in advance Deb
  15. Just saw your flights booked for 25th May, it really is flying by! We have a few months longer to go, but so much to do still. I look around the house and wonder how I can get everything sold/sorted in time EEK! Good news is that we have a confirmed tenant to rent the house and we have had our resignations from work accepted! Scary scary but no going back now! EEEEKKKK
  16. Congrats! This is great news. Hope all work out with the in laws, hopefully you won't be there for too long. How is the job hunt going? Where are you thinking of locating? We got our holiday accommodation from Stayz and the lady with booked with has been really helpful. Its NOR so if that's any good to you let me know and I will send across the details. As she is an estate agent, she can give us a reference for a long term rental too which should help x
  17. I think that the IELTS test is a good thing. Having a British Passport doesn't mean you have good English. I teach children that can't speak a word and those kids bless them don't get any extra support to learn English, its not classed as a special educational need. So to be honest, at least if IELTS is in place its a fair bench mark. On the flip side, I've had kids come in who aren't British passport holders and have a better grasp of English than some of those who have a UK passport. The bench mark has to be somewhere?
  18. Good luck with everything.. the whole journey is ups and downs imo, It will be strange to not have the 'journey' stress when we get there... only to be replaced by all of the other things that the next chapter brings.. at least it will be sunny
  19. the date ebbs ever closer for many of us on here. Scary and exciting at the same time. I'm looking around my house and wondering how on earth we are going o get everything done in a few months. Lots to sell as we need EVERY penny and share the same worries with regard to jobs. We cant afford to be without work so will have to take whatever we can until what we want comes along. A scary thought too.... however with schools we were super worried, like yourself. Its such a huge decision and we wanted to get the older children (aged 16 & 12) settled into school asap so they can start making friends and not get homesick. We opted for private school as when we worked out the finances, it was as cheap to go there as it was to rent in a quality high school catchment area due to the rent inflation that brings. So we thought, get the school, and then we can live in a cheaper sub if necessary and commute in. It was the children who chose the school which then dictated where we headed to. They are already enrolled, confirmed and will start when we arrive. Guess that's the difference with going private. I will struggle with the cost, but they are sorted at least and the school have been fab in accommodating them. Good luck with it
  20. I'm watching the webcams on Trigg Beach and cant believe it's 6.09am there are loads of people on the beach...getting ready to surf or jogging. The sun is up and a new day is starting. I look forward to that!
  21. we also booked directly on Singapore airways website. It was cheaper than our travel agent could get them for.
  22. it doesn't matter if you have already validated it... just that you are going 'permanently' your visa needs to say something to that effect. Singapore was the best for us and you get the extra 10kg plus you can take a lap top in cabin as well as 7kg cabin. Certainly worth giving their customer service a call. With regard to returns. You are unable to travel or alter a ticket past 12 months from departure date, plus you will pay charges to alter the return date (most flight returns will not allow a rtn date past 3 months from booking as this is the maximum holiday visa time period I think). Sure someone will correct of my info is out of date. But my advice would be to weigh it all up. see what best suits you. You can get cheaper but for me, Singapore overnight flight and turnaround wins every time. Good Luck
  23. this is great news Deb .. onwards and forwards with a whole new adventure
