Jen78
Hi Nick, Hubby had his exam in February, he used www.Ielts-exam.net. There is loads of info on there aswell as tips and practice tests all free, you shouldn't have to buy any. The key is to read the tips and information about the tests aswell as practicing as the tests aren't as straight forward as tbey may seem. Hubby practiced loads, reading tips and doing at least 1 paper a night for weeks (with the odd night off!) and found this website really helpfull. He passed really well and said it was definitely the revision that helps. I can't stress enough how important practicing is, it's daft considering you speak english but the tests are quite technical and some questions can catch you out, but you'll be fine if you put the work in. Hope it all goes well... Jen Edited July 20, 2016 by Jen78
Takeme2Oz
I found you tube videos really helpful especially IELTS Liz. There is a format that the exam markers want to see especially in the writing and I found by watching the videos and practicing the different types of questions really helped and I passed first time. Good Luck x

Shaw86
When I did mine I bought a book off amazon which came with a CD and had lots of practice exams. It was similar to this one. https://www.amazon.co.uk/IELTS-Exams-Books/b?ie=UTF8&node=13425241 Hope this helps and good luck. ian
abey1
Practice is the main thing. And for writing, give attention to the paragraphs. You will be good. Good luck!! Sent from my SM-J500F using Tapatalk

Jamesy
Hi there, I sat the IELTS 3 times over the last couple of months, the big problem for me was the writing section. The first two attempts I received 6.5. I ended up going for a two hour lesson with a tutor. It proved to be invaluable. As I've just received my latest scores yesterday. Reading 9, Listening 8.5, Speaking 9 and Writing 8. The online practice sessions of reading and more so the listening helped in that they give you a good idea of what to expect on the day. Speaking is the easy, just talk for two minutes and your golden. The writing is where I think most people fall down. I would highly recommend going for a quick brush up lesson purely on the writing. If I can help in any way with pointers etc I'd be happy to do so.
NTOWN
My husband sat the IELTS test at the end of July. Results have been withheld and 'under investigation'! As I searched online as to what this meant (as the university haven't actually told us), apparently its very common and its something to do with the test/test centre?? Some have mentioned that they have retaken the test because others have mentioned that they've been waiting for 3 months now for their results!! What a joke, until I researched this we felt like 'criminals'! So id suggest, get practicing and book up as soon as you are ready!
clairej456
I am also awaiting test results. It's been nearly 3 weeks of waiting so far and still no information or updates.no one knows anything about how long it will take or what is actually going on. Ielts is a joke. Is it worth just re sitting it ?
Sparky Malarky
Pearson test is much better
Rossmoyne
Once upon a time when I worked in the migration arena, IELTS was the "go to" test. However in the past 5 or so years, there have been issues with testing centres, bad marking, and corruption with markers and officials taking bribes so applicants pass the test. The Curtin University Centre in Perth in particular was singled out for this.... have a google. Since the emergence of the Pearson Test, I now recommend everyone to take this as it appears to be fairer and more efficient. My comments are made "Without Prejudice" and are just my personal opinion.
